Squeaking noise in the back of XA driving me NUTS!
Hey gang,
Have had my xA for nearly 2 weeks now. LOVE it. BUT, one thing is driving me crazy. Every time I go over a large bump (like say a speed bump, or a change in road surface) I get this really annoying squeak/ (plastic/glass) cracking type noise in the back. I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it yet. It's driving me nuts though. It's almost like there's a piece of plastic rubbing or tight or something like that.
Any suggestions? I guess I could take it to a Toyota dealership and have them mess with it...

I see. I had that problem in my Rav4. What I did to resolve that was tape on some velcro (the loop side) so that the tonneau rests on the fabric. It also tightens the fit. Give that a try. It may work in the Xa too.

I had this really bad, too. It turned out to be the spoiler. If you have one, go and see if it moves when you try to move it. If it does, and makes that noise you've been hearing, get the dealer to fix it. This really annoyed me, but it's only if you have a spoiler.

No spoiler here. I've checked out other things like taping down the metal wires under the back seat's fabric. Also, I've taken off and put back the cargo cover and the noise still seams to be there. It's a slight squeaking/tapping/clicking noise. Really odd but also really annoying (when music isn't blarring of course).

As crazy as it sounds look at the 3rd brakelight cover. On my xB I have had it break twice and am having the dealer put on the 3rd one today. The tab inside cracks allowing it to touch the glass lightly making noise. Mine even vibrates between 2800-3000 rpms.
Not sure how the brakelight cover looks on the xA...

I've noticed water condensation inside the brakelight covers. Since I never use a high-powered spray to wash my car, it's odd that water would get in there so easily just from daily use.

Have someone ride in back then drive the car over the same spot. they should be able to pinpoint the area of the noise then start pulling stuff off til it is found.
