Default Engine Damper kit , Does it worth buying?

I have found this on eBay. I am a newbie, so can anyone tell me what it is? Does it worth buying? :? Can I install this myself with hand tools?

Thank you

Junk. Go check out a 400 hp mustang cobra and see if it has something like this installed.

Yes, but a 400 RWD stang needs traction bars to help it out. These things help FWD cars, have less wheel hop when you gun it.

What if you don't have wheel hop to begin with?

Then no need for it. I have seen some xA owners claim they get some mad wheel hop while trying to get some good 1/4 mile times.

Uh, Mustang's haven't needed traction bars since they ditched the leaf spring rear suspension. My mother's '03 Cobra is pushing around that, and she is running on stock suspension. ;)

 Did not fully look at the Cobra part. The older stangs would need traction bars. The new Stangs with a 4 link, but it still seems they can use a traction bar of some kind. http://www.performancecenter.com/pro...ductID=1105037

traction bars limit axle rotation but you need a good tire to provide the extra traction. I think this little shock installed on your motor is useless with such little horsepower and FWD.

Yeah alot of the old leaf spring rear-ends used the slapper/traction bars. Heck, you can still use these on some of the modern pick-ups still running rear leaf suspension.

That bar you posted a link to is for chassis strengthening...something very similar to the JIC under bracing for the box. Most Mustang owners combine something like the k-member brace with a set of subframe connectors and a 3-point strut tower brace. Unfortunately every Mustang until probably the new '05 has the structural rigidity of a wet noodle, so bracing up the chassis in the modern Mustang is numero uno on the list of modifications. It does help get the power to the rear wheels, but most importantly it keeps the chassis from flexing and eventually deforming as time goes on.

This mod mentioned above...hmmmm. I've seen simlar things used in very high HP cars where the stock motor mounts may have issues dealing with the extra torque from the motor. But even then, most use solid mounts and wouldn't even need something like this. I'd say it is a waste of money. The solid link from the motor to your firewall is also going to cause TONS of increased vibration from the motor into the passenger compartment. NOT fun for a daily driver.

BTW...good luck at boot camp! Thanks for choosing to serve our country.
