Default need help, wheels on the way but might not work!!!!

i just finally found a set of wheels i like and were something i could afford, so i bought them. the way i came acroww them is i knew the wheel and where to order them at. they are the mb wheel weapons in bronze, and the size is a 17x8 with a 46offset, i plan on running a 225/45 17 on them, however i called dicount tire today to check on the order and the guy asked me how did i know they would fit my car, i told him that i simply type in the wheel, and size and that was the only offset listed. he thinks its going to rub on the inside but im not seeing how. if stock is 45 offset, why would a total wheel being 1" wider and only 1mm difference in offset rub, wouldn't only about 1/2" go to the inside and to the outside seeing as how the offset is so close. and another question is if they do rub, whats the thickest spacer i could run on stock wheel studs. now i have to sit here and wait til tues or weds to see if i just blew 600 bucks or not. can anyone help answer this question before i lose all my hair thinking about it

This is hard to explain, but I'll give it a shot. Being that you're 1" wider--when you go to put the rim on, the surface of the rim is longer (duh) and may extend to the brake caliper and possibly rub. Having a negative offset actually sits the rim on the hub farther back than stock. (Read and look at the example given.) Combine the 2 and you might incur some rubbing. I think you will be ok. It's not that big of a difference on the offset and I have seen people run 17x8 set ups here on SL. I think the guy you talked to was trying to warn you more so than tell you it wasn't going to work. As for spacers (if you need them), see if you can find the OTG 10mm ones. You will most likely have to change the wheels studs though. GL.

thanks alot, the caliper thing was what he was talking about, so hopefully it works out, i really like the wheels and the price i paided, going to suck to have to send them back and pick something else out, took me over a month to decide on these. i have seen a set in person and the center looks like it should clear with no problem, but the guy told me to sit them on the car first cause once the tire is mounted, i own them, heres the ones i choose, so if they dont work maybe someone on here knows where a set like it is that will work without paying the price of some works or volks
