Default interior lighting kit

i have a few questions on the stock interior lighting kit.

1. does the wiring just plug in somewhere near the fuse box?

2. how and where does it mount under the dash?

3. any drilling or modifying of interior pieces?

4. is it indepently powered ( you gotta turn it on everytime ) or does it come on at nite when you turn your lights on? i know it has a like a 4 stage power switch

5. would you personally recommend it?

any info would help :D

I am not sure about the TC kit put if you were going to do it yourself (Which I think is better..yes you could tap into the fuse box or somewhere else)

2. how and where does it mount under the dash?

I believe scion dealers are placing the lights right at the edg of the dash, which means you can see them and personally I think that is not a really good install.

3. any drilling or modifying of interior pieces?

I think they do, they might drill a couple of holes or maybe a couple of screws...either way I dont like the way they install the lights...

4. is it indepently powered ( you gotta turn it on everytime ) or does it come on at nite when you turn your lights on? i know it has a like a 4 stage power switch

It is a rocker switch, just like the foglight switch. Depending where you tap the power from they will only come on when you turn your lights on. If you tap into the fuse box I believe you can turn it on or off whether u turn ure lights on or off.

5. would you personally recommend it?

I would not recommend the Scion OEM lighting kit. The main reason is that is way overpriced and you could make your own with 1/10th of what you would have paid. Also, if you want a simple plug and play kit with great instructions you can PM Randode or check out his website @ www.randode.com

Just my 2 cents!

I have the blue oem, I really like them a lot. Yes you can see the tube from certain angles but it doesnt look bad to me. Also you get the cup holder lights with the oem which is very cool. If you dont mind the price or you arent the best at installing things I would recommend the dealer lights, I am very happy with mine. Oh and also blue looks very good.

The only problem I've run into with the lighting kit is the fact the tubes in our Azure tC are so much lighter blue (not as bright) than the ones in our Indigo tC. We had the installed at the dealer since it was just easier for us. Other than that, I like the effect.

Though for those who are better equipped to install such items on their own, there are definately cheaper ones out there.
