Default manual owners come here

i dont know if this is a typical thing with manual cars or just with the tc but i've noticed something odd, not something bad odd, but just odd.... i was in a drive-thru for carl's jr and i was sitting perfectly flat waiting for my pastrami burger, i played with the shifter like i always do in a light manner and put it in 1st with no clutch. not all the way in 1st, just before the gateway. and it stops there, if you hold it there, the car will move forward like .00000004mph. i just found it odd...

does this happen to you too?

I have never done that. It doesn't sound like a good thing to do... Shifting without clutch... HHmmmmm...

I do notice shifting into 3rd seems short... No... I don't have the pop out problem or anything... shifting into 3rd just seems short... Compare to my other cars before tC (mostly hondas)

It's normal, but not good. The gears are rubbing together and slowly making the car move. I wouldn;t suggest doing that all the time because you will damage the gears like that.

My guess is it's the synchros making contact since "all gear teeth are all fully meshed at all times".

Personally I think eating at Carls Jr is gonna be more harmful than playing with your shifter.
check those arteries, yo.

Yea, what's that new burger they came out with? Some double thickburger with a pound of bacon or some crap?

(Well, it's Hardee's here, but they are all the same anyway).

i remember hardee's being a bit different from Carl's Jr, but maybe they're more similar now.

I think they are all owned by the same people. Hardee's might be a bit more regionalized for the South, but I think they are sibling stores.

yeah, the biggest give-away that they're related is the creepy star with a face on it.
but anyway, kind of back on the subject, i think it goes in line with.. being in first.. and then slowly releasing the clutch.. not sure what you call it, but the car will more forward close to the release point. kind of like an automatic when you let go of the brake, but not as quick.

Yeah, that's your synchros, and yes, it will wear them out. What were you doing pushing the shifter into gear without the clutch anyway?
