Default My wonderful (yes its sarcasm) experience purchacing parts

A few days ago I went to my local Toyota/Scion dealer to purchase floormats for my 3 week old SSM tC. While I was there I decided to go with the rear bumper applique to protect it from getting scratched when I load junk in the back. The lady at the desk said it woul dbe 10 minutes before the tech guy was available to install it, so I said okay. The guy finally comes and he leaves to work on the car. About ten minutes later, he comes back and asks the lady for the keys, she told him she gave them to him already. The guy fumbles through some keys on the desk, then reaches in his pocket. The moron had them in there all along. So my hopes of getting in and out quickly were dashed once again. While waiting I picked up some touch up paint, (no i dont have any scratches, it was just in case). Once the work was done, I go to check out. THe cashier couldnt even access the invoice because it was locked, about three different employees on three different computers had messed with it through the course of my stay. The cashier then had to go consult the other lady and they couldnt fix it, so they talked to the direct manager, and it took quite some time to settle. Finally I get out and go home. Once I'm home, i look at the applique again and the idiot who put it on scratched my car on the bumper. I also noticed scratches under the applique itself. Luckily, I took it back to the dealer and they said they would fix it for me tomorrow.

But yeah, just though I'd share my bad luck

I like the way the applique looks - until the car gets dirty

Dirt builds up around the edges and looks like SHIIIT

many dealers, not all, are exactly like how you descirbed. They deal with so many cars everyday that they no longer car that it is someones property and they just want to get it done and move on

here is my bumper thing...if anyone wanted to see it in white

yes it does gather dirt on the edges but is easily washed off with water...so that isnt too much of a problem

the sticker is pretty thick so i can see it protecting

-UPDATE ON PROGRESS OF PAINT REPAIR-
Well the dealership called and told me my car was ready, so I went to pick it up. Good news: the scratch was repaired and the new applique was properly applied. Bad News: the scratch was now in the center. The guy who put on the applique this time was trying to get some moisture out from underneath with a needle and scratched the car again. So now I have to go back and drop it off again Tuesday. ....joy...

Dc, that is some pretty pathetic service man. Where in Texas are you because I'm in San Antonio and every one at the dealerships are tripping over themselves to make sure everything is done properly. I've been to Red McCombs and Cavender for parts or service and they have both been helpful.

Not suggesting to be a jerk, but when you get the opinion card back from the service center, make sure you very clearly relate the experience you had to the Dealership. It may or may not do any good, but the ownership and management there needs to know that your expereince was bad, even if they finally fixed everything. They are supposed to be there for you and not have you waste your time and fuel going back and forth. I know that if I had to take time off from work/school to return for repairs that were caused from shoddy workmanship, I would be VERY angry.

By the way, not to turn them out, but maybe to keep other ScionLife members aware, maybe you should post the name of the Dealership?

Its Sport City Toyota/Scion in Dallas, tx but I dont want to bash them at all, because Jeff and Charles, the Scion guys, are great people to deal with, and they are being very helpful in this whole crappy process. I'm just not too happy with the service department's inability to put on a stupid sticker correctly.

Do not feel bad. I had a SAAB before nad these 'geniuses' at the dealer who were supposed to be flown and trained in Sweden forgot to tighten two nuts on engine oil cooler so the oil was slowly but surely dripping....
I drove to my friend, indy, who noticed the engine to be louder than usuall and than the oil stain was a dead give away.... My car was under warranty but I was actually relieved when it was ewas over so I could take the car to my friend...

So, I would never believe in any special skills of mechanics at the delaer. Those are morons. Evrery smart dealer trained mechanic left to open his own shop, especially when they learn to service a rare make of a car....
