I need some help. I got some tanabe coilovers installed and put my intake back on this past Saturday with no problem. However, Monday morning while driving to work the check engine, trac off, and vsc lights illuminated. I figured I'll disconnect the battery to see if it'll clear up... it worked until today, the lights came up again. I've never had this problem before when I only had the intake, being that I took it off and put it on several times. I'm kinda goin' nuts here. Has anyone gone through this? If so please, help a fellow xB owner out.
Check that your wheel sensors are all ok , they too will set off those lights.

I had the same issue couple weeks ago turned out I killed my MAF when I shorted out the positive lead of the battery to the CAI. Hows does the car run? Mine sounded like a wrx and it ran like crap lol....

She drives fine, but the lights are bothering me. I still have to get a wheel alignment done so I guess I'll see if that'll help. I checked the MAF and no problem. Any other suggestions?
If you took the intake off there is a good chance the Mass Air Flow sensor failed or is dirty. Buy some MAF cleaner if that dosen't work have Auto Zone or Advanced see if they can clear the codes. If that doesn't work buy a new MAF.
Its got nothing to do with the intake just get an allignment, even if the car tracks straight its still off center. the sensers on the wheels (abs vsc trac cel) are most likely the problem trust me.
Well my MAF shorted something on my computer or whatever (didnt care cuz it was warrantied) and the dealer had to replace something as well as the MAF.
Mine, is a 2006 xB with 94,000 miles on it. The usual set of lights came on for me also. I pulled codes:
PO171 - system too lean
PO441 - Evap. EMCS Purge Flow
PO455 - Evap. Emission Control System Leak (large)
Fuel cap is tight. Everything seems to snuggly attached under the hood. OH, after I fill it up (one click full), the engine sputters, I have to FLOOR it to start. Then, afterwards, it starts/runs fine.
I don't think this is an MAF sensor prob.
Perhaps a hole somewhere? Perhaps something in the fuel tank (sputtering at full)?
Suggestions?

I got an alignment, but that didn't work. I gotta get some MAF sensor cleaner and try that out. I'm pretty sure the MAF is the problem. If push comes to shove I'm gonna end up taking it to Toyota.
The MAF on the xB (1st Gen at least) seems to be very sensitive to so many things including a clogged air filter! I have gone through 3 MAF in 4 days before Toyota figured it out about 2 months into buying my box. But at 167,000+ miles later, NOTHING has broken, stopped working, and generally no problems! I STILL LOVE my 04' xB!!

check the sensors at the wheels when you dropped it one mayhave come loose.dont go to the dealer for a maf sensor use autozone oradvance auto. they are $80 and you can change it right in the parking lot.
ive found that the aem CAI is a big problem with this issue. if you have that, get rid of it. solved my problem. 2 years later never seen the lights again after driving 6 months with them on constantly.
Did ya get gas? Be sure the cap is on TIGHT! Seriously!

This happened to me! I flipped a s**t when I saw them come on while I was driving!! A friend had driven my car beforehand.. I got so mad wondering what the heck he could have done to it. He'd only filled it up and didn't put the gas cap back on tight enough.

not sure where to post this as i haven't seen a recent thread on it... i have an 05 manual and sometimes in second gear, accelerating normally i get a double beep... nothing lights up... it happens maybe once a week and not during a turn, etc... at first i thought it was from accelerating too fast in the cold but it happens when its warm too... anybody have an idea? worried it might be a sensor or something... 60k, just got it two months ago... any help appreciated
when the check engine light comes on for the 5k reminder to change oil the vsc and trac light do not come on. But...
So in any other situation all three will light up if its something else to do with other than the oil?
Just wondering cause every once in a while driving at 80 down the interstate all three lights will turn on and I can feel a drop in performance. To maintain my speed I have to push it to like 4200 rpm's when usually at 4000 the box will go 80.
