Default What would you do with $3000?

I'm deploying to Iraq with II MEF CSSD-29 (USMC) next week for seven months. When I get back, Illl drop 3K on my xA. I want to make her competitive at local track events and just an all around better street performer. I'm not looking for a drag setup... No nitrous, no turbos, just something balanced within that price range. What would you suggest as far as suspension, brakes, driveline, and engine work? Include prices if possible.

The xA's potential shines in it's cornering, weight, and short gearing. Improve on those aspects and you have yourself a great track car.

Mods I would recommend~
Lightweight wheels w/ performance tires - $800
Coilovers (Tien or Tanabe) - $900
Axxis Brake Pads - $50
Short Shifter (TWM) - $100
Custom Catback Exhaust - $300
Stainless Steel Header - $130
Short Ram Intake (Injen or K&N) - $170

Btw, thank you for serving our country :D Stay safe in Iraq soldier!

If it were me I'd get New wheels & Tires, Coilovers, Cusco Pillowball mount, Progressive rear sway, Hotchkiss F&R sway set, EL Prototypes CAI, a Strut tower bar.
If you shop smart you should be able to get it all for 3K.
I do AutoX so thats what I'm planning. BTW: this will bump you out of stock class @ an SCCA event.

What does the Cusco Pillowball mount do?

It allows you to adjust Camber on your front wheels.

Get good coilovers, good wheels/tires, and a good rear sway bar.

That should put you well under 3 grand.

If you wanted, you could get some nice aftermarket seats. Corbeau makes nice seats that are easy on the wallet too.

What coilover system would you recomend? I'm looking for an "aggressive street" setup...

I'm looking for about the same thing myself.

You have a lot of choices.

JIC Magic makes a good system, however, Tein Basics also seem nice. I believe the JIC system is a bit stiffer.

save the money and use it on something else. i'm not trying to knock my own brothers but the XA lacks the power to get it going to use the stiffer suspension fully and effectively, i mean it's ride is already bumpy as is,you can pair that up with some trd shocks and lowering spring so the car would be somewhat enjoyble on the mountain runs.

Funny, I've never noticed any lack of power on the track, Yeah its not a C5 but very little is. I have more than enough power to keep up with cars in my class. Last time I ran I was only about 4 seconds behind an STi.

As for Coilovers I think I am leaning towards the JIC's but part of that is they come with the adjustable pillowball mounts.

3k and you want an agressive street setup

This is what I would do:

Coilover or air ride setup 800-1400
Front and Rear sway bars 350-400
Frame Brace Kit / strut bars 400-500
K&N CAI 145-175
Custom Exhaust system 500

If you can't make up your mind, just give me the money and I'll take care of it

First and foremost, Be careful, Stay safe, And thank you for your commitment and sacrifices you have chosen to make for us!

Next, the 3K would probably be best spent on suspesion/braking goodies if you want a corner carver.

Me personally, I'd drop the 3K on all my silly debt.

If I didn't have silly debt, I'd sink it into my 1984 15th Anniversary Trans Am restoration project I'm wrapped up in!
