Default xB is a possible buy for me

So Im in the process of buying a new car and I came across an 05 xB. My budget is a little constrained but they have a good price on the car and you can't beat the gas mileage. Plus something always intrigued me about these boxcar deals.

Anyway, the feature that will make or break the deal here is the engine. I know its listed at 108 horsepower. That is a definite concern for me. Im going to test drive it soon, I would just like a heads up on how it drives in general, how it drives on the interstate, how is the acceleration, etc.

Thanks in advance

First, you can't be on the fence about an xB. You kind of have to love it or leave it.

The power is more than adequate for driving almost anywhere. I live in a mountainous region and have never had an issue unless the box was loaded down (I mean, really loaded down). I drive four ours of all highway and some steep hills when I go home from school. I never have an issue. Obviously the xB is not a rocket, it never will be, but it is more than adequate for pretty much anyone. I am not a small person either and have no trouble.

Don't buy the xB if you want to speed around like a maniac, that is not what the xB is meant to do.

The xB handles great from the factory and even better if you do some simple upgrades. I auto-x mine regularly.

Cool. Well I really like the design. Im kind of a geek and it fits my style really. Ive always wanted a car to "race" but ive never gotten into the race scene and at my age, its about time to grow up anyways.

Everyone else havin a good time with theirs?

The xB fits anyone's personality as long as you're willing to accept it, lol.

I Just meant I've always wanted a car to fix up, put after market parts in, all that jazz. I don't know much about cars so it never got farther than aesthtics with me. And I'm getting out of that racing mentality and more into comfort and gas mileage, lol.

Gen1 xB's are fun and you can pretty much do anything you want to them...Search around the forum...Go to members rides and see what has already been done t them...You would be amazed at what people have done to the toaster...They are not fast by any means nor were they meant to be...But they do handle awesome with the proper set up, i.e., wheels, lowering springs, strut bars, braces, etc...Good luck and have fun...

The boxes are fun to drive. Much better than those hamster cars... that's for sure. What are the details of the purchase? All stock, mostly stock, modded? What's the mileage on it? Clean title? Current asking price? Individual sale or stealership? What's the transmission, color, etc...

Just curious... wanting to help find another box luvr is all. But yeah, check out what people have done with their rides. Most of the stuff is for asthetics more than anything else, but there are some that are done over the top in power. There's a heavily modded Yaris (same engine and suspension setup) that's pulling 12s in the 1/4 mile. There was also an xB with a chevy small block 350 (before he totaled it). So you can imagine the possibilities.
