Pioneer AVH-P4200dvd installed
Just installed the headunit in my tc2... works pretty good.. very nice unit... HD radio and Ipod video cable are on order...
As well as anyone else putting an aftermarket radio.. make sure you hook up a relay to power up the factory amp or the bottom speakers in the front will not work... if using a metra harness **obviously** power the blue wire with a full 12v's using a relay.. don't use the remote wire as there isn't enough to fully power it and it'll blow the wire... safer to use a relay
I post some pics of the amp turn on wire when i install the HD radio tuner and ipod when i have to take out the unit again... was very easy to install just need to power the amp to use all the speakers available in the car
FYI... the 3 speaker sizes in the door are Lower: 6x9, Mid 3", tweeter 1"
took the door apart to see why the speaker wasn't working

At least with this model, you don't have to remove the shift **** and every other trim piece to get to the radio. All you have to do is pull off the bezel surrounding the radio and uplug the clock. So simple...

It only takes 12V to turn the amp on. The remote turn on wire run to the metra "blue" wire for power antenna (aka the factory white/blue wire) and your done.
Don't need a relay.
Nice install though. How did you mount the dash trim kit? I had to use a little dab of hot glue behind mine. Silly Alpines wont accept the Metra kit nicely.

I find it easier and safer for myself to install a relay.. been in car electronics career for 12 years and just know better... personal preference i guess..
and yes.. did the same thing.. hot glue on the sides of the bezel to mount the gap covers... did the same thing when i had my xd to mount them...
also drilled out the dimples on the factory mounts to recess the radio just a little so it didn't stick out as much, looked much cleaner that way..

How did you get the HD Radio to work? I was thinking about getting an aftermarket stereo but went with the Alpine Scion Upgrade for that reason alone. Is there a way to reuse what is there for the HD Radio, or did you just add an HD Radio install kit from Pioneer?

would you mind posting (a link maybe?) the exact products you used for the install? like the harness or the mounting kit
also, does the steering wheel buttons still work? or did you have to install something else? like something from pac-audio?

so i just have one quick question what exactly needs to be wired in order to keep the bottom 6x9s working i installed my old kenwood kdc-x994 and had to unplug the cars stock amp because it kept sending the unit into protect mode im guessing you have figured out how to get around that or did you just pull the door panel off and run wires from the 3s to the 6x9s thanks

bottom speakers are powered by the amp
...for the speakrs to be on the amp has to be on
the wire that turns on the amp is blue....that wire has to be connected to the harness of the aftermarket HU...blue to blue (usually)

got my avh-p3300bt installed, would've preferred 4200 but didn't want to spend so much and got mine for 450 with 2yrs of product replacement warranty on best buy.
the thing is, I bought the axxess aswc kit but I did not want to splice any cables on the stock wiring, also, couldn't find how to, the cables are not the same color and there's no diagram on how to. How did you manage to do it? Is there any harness for it, I've seen them for other toyotas. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
BTW yours looks awesome..
