What is this suction noise? Click on Video

I've never heard this suction noise so loud from an engine. I've heard it on aftermarket intake filters, but this seems to be coming from somewhere near the intake manifold. I got the camera close to the Air filter box and Throttle body so you can see that the noise gets louder at the intake manifold. You can hear a big "Swoop" when you turn off the engine too. Is this normal or do I have an intake leak?

have you checked your vacuum lines?

I've given it a quick look over but didn't see any dangling vacuum hoses. I'm gonna take off the cover soon and give it a more thorough check.

could be a bad intake manifold gasket?

just hope it's not a cracked manifold

You can narrow the area down and eventually pinpoint a vacuum leak by spraying some carburetor cleaner in the area in which you think it may be leaking. When it gets sucked into the leak area the rpms on your engine will slightly rev frome the leak sucking the fumes in.

I removed the cover and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I also checked the hoses and they don't look dry rotted or cracked. I can't see the underside of the intake manifold, but the top looks fine (no cracks).

I haven't tried the carburetor cleaner trick, but I will soon. I haven't remembered to buy carburetor cleaner. I'm beginning to think this might be normal? Can someone go out to their XA and listen close to the intake manifold? Do you guys hear a sucking noise when you turn off the engine?

I made another video showing how it sounds when I turn it off. You might need to turn your volume up. Is this normal?

If you had an air leak in the intake manifold it wouldn't run smoothly at idle. These engines make different noises than usual engines because of the variable valve timing and plastic intake manifold. Unfortunately I can't play your videos without being a member of Photobucket FYI.

I think you're right. I think it's the plastic intake manifold. I deleted all my cookies and was able to see the videos without being logged in. Try this direct link.

I don't think I have a vacuum leak. The car runs and idles fine. If I had vacuum leak that made such a loud suction noise, the engine would be running horribly or probably wouldn't run at all.
