Default sluggish at 50km

Hey all, wondering if anyone has had this issue:
2011 manual tc with short shifter installed.

Anywhere between 50-90km in pretty much any gear (2,3 or 4th gear depending on speed), my car feel like its skips a beat...like i took my foot off then back on the accelerator....but I have constant pressure on pedal.

Took to dealership a few times with no resolve, they have no idea. I took them for test drive to show them cuz they couldnt reproduce themselves, they finally felt the problem, but still no fix.

They installed throttle adjuster, but that actually made it worse.
for $300
Any ideas?

thanks

Only thing i can think of is that you're in too high of a gear for the speed. The car really picks up when you're in the 2500 to 3000 rpm range. But have you tried cleaning/ changing your air filter?

Its not the incorrect gear, been driving stick for 25+ years now. and constant pressure on accelerator pedal. Its a hesitation, not like the lurch u get if in wrong gear.
Been happening since I got car in Aug 2011 off the lot...air filter was factory, but I can try that fix.
It would be silly if that was it and dealership never found it.

Any other ideas ?? its annoying

I think I know what you mean. Its kinda like there is a dip in the "powerband" between 2,500-3,500 rpm and the car is completely gutless. (feels almost like the clutch is slipping) If thats the case then my car does it too. I'd look at the nst crank pulley thread and dezod catted header thread to see their dyno results because you could match your rpms to their stock tc results and use those as a comparison to your car. I have thought there were problems with my car since day one, but I think it's just the joys of a four-banger. I miss my old trucks v8 power

Could it be you've been driving incorrectly for 25+ yrs? I kid I kid. On a serious note when this occurs have you notice the check engine light switching on and off for a split second? Does it feel like the transmission has fallen asleep as if you were driving a 2012 camry se 4cyl with auto transmission? A few things come to mind with your issue, ranging from o2 sensor to air mass sensor to other things.

I totally agree with talt2008. I notice alot when pulling off in second gear it will accelerate with *****, lose the *****, and then grow slightly bigger ***** as if to make up for its 2 second castration. Maybe I should complain to the dealer that my torque curve is messed up and theyll give me a nice new throttle adjuster as well.

Can those having an issue post a vid because I just drove my car around and I don't have this issue at all power is consistent all through redline. Only time I have an issue is when I'm in too high a gear and I know the op knows how to drive stick shift so that's not the issue. OP have you tried resetting the ecu? Seeing as we have a drive by wire system.

^I agree actually. I know that I am one of the few of us that has turbocharged our cars, but even before that I had even acceleration throughout the power band unless I was in too high of a gear for a given speed. I do agree with resetting the ECU. Incase you don't know how, (I don't know your automotive expertise so no offense meant if you do) just unplug the battery for a few minutes, that will reset everything including you radio settings.

Hey all! New to the Tc2 world (Just bought my 2013 RS 8.0).

What your describing could just be an area of the motors powerband that lulls like that due to a harmonic vib through the engine in those rpms. Also, the reason some of you have it and some don't could be due to simple elevation changes, remember: an engine loses roughly 8 horsepower for every 1000 feet of elevation, which makes a pretty decent difference in the lower RPM bands, making a lull much more noticeable in higher elevations.

I noticed the same lul in acceleration in my 09' tC as well. It doesn't happen to me all the time though. And it happens less frequently after I installed my Injen SRI. Don't really know if that has anything to do with it but I thought I'd throw it out there. I'm only 34ft above sea level so that can't be it. Oh, and I think it only happens when I'm flooring it too.
