Default Carbon Fiber Sun-roof replacements??

Hey I was wondering how hard it is to remove the glass from the roof. I was thinking about talking to some carbon fiber manufactures and seeing if I could get a glass replacement kit made. I was also hoping that if the glass was easy to remove that I could keep the factory glass so that it I wanted to sell the tC or just wanted to put the glass back in I could take it somewhere and have it re-installed. Also I was wondering if it would be possible to attach the carbon fiber panels to the sunroof track so that you could still open the sunroof. Anyone who is interested please let me know or if you have any suggestions or comments hit me up (good or bad). thanx a lot

I am sure someone good at design could create replacements for the stock glass. Are you doing it for weight reduction I am assuming? Pure carbon fiber would be the best way to go. 99% of CF hoods are eiter 1 sided or two sided CF coated fiberglass, which is not as light as 100% CF. That is also why most carbon fiber hoods are so cheap ($300 or so). they are basically fiberglass with a layer of CF to look cool. A 100% CF hood can run upwards of $1000, so the roof will be expensive if made of 100% CF. Just some things to think about.

dude thats a smart idea if anyone does it I want it for my tC. the sunroof is cool and all but if you are really into tracking your car you need a light ___ car and the sunroof is prohibiting the tC because of so much wieght associated with the sunroof. Also the CF hoods that are 300 bux are still light 9lbs or so compared to the original hood. Does any one know the original wieght, and the wieght of a full CF hood 100%?

Yes, the partial CF hoods are still much lighter. I dont know if anyone makes an all CF hood for the tC yet. I searched around, and found one for a 350z (too bad I dont have a 350 ) and it was around $1200 I think.

I have a 75% cf hood in my other car weight's about 5lbs. the only thing fiberglass is the skeleton for it. it didn't cost me anything since a friend of mine made it for me ahahha. but it makes a lot of difference if you get a cf hood, it's so much lighter and easier to lift. =)
