Default can i hook a subwoofer to my stock head unit.

i was wanting to put a subwoofer in my car and i was wondering if the stock head unit is capable of having an aftermarket subwoofer. i just wanted to know for sure before i tore apart the dash to get it. thanks

Yes you can; all you need is a line level converter and wire it into the harness or get the scion toyota aftermarket subthingy which is generally easier and is claimed to have be the best way to add a sub, but i use the line level converter and it sounds great. you can get the toyota sub-out on ebay for about 60 and the line level should usually run average of 20. hope this helps good luck.

I did it and it sounds good, just make sure you have some way of turning the voltage down on the signal. Most converters have these.

yeah, what they said... line output converter... can get them many places... make sure levels are correctly set

WERE DO YOU GET THAT LINE LEVEL THINGY AT WOULD I NEED PICTURES TO INSTALL?. I MEAN IS IT HARD OR ANTHING?

You can get the LOC's just about anywhere really. I picked up a Scoshe brand at Wal-Mart for like $20.

easy to hook up... just tap into your speaker wires at the back of the HU and plug in RCA's....

sorry if this is dumb input but you do know that youll need an aftermarket amp as well right?

from your post its not clear that you knew this so im sorry if your on the same page.
