Default charcole canister thing....

ok.. i made a post about two weeks ago about the charcole canister and the check engine light coming on.....ok.....i got a code scanner and ran it, and sure enought it said fule emmision and all.....basicly it was the canister....so i errased it.....and drove around just to see if the light would come back on, but it never did....cause alot of people have been sayin the light comes on in the rain, or after u wash ur car...what i think happens...is the canister gets hot...water hits the sensor and throws the code while the canister itself is fine....but thats just my expericence with it....so let me know if its different with ur car or if we are all in the same boat...

all i can really add to this post is that it happened to me, i took it in and had it replaced under warranty

ive since replaced the stock spark plugs with a Denso Iridium plugs, not sure if that would have any effect at all, but ive had no check engine light in the last 5k and ive washed it plenty of times and driven through a lot of rain

spark plugs wouldnt really fix it, all i can geuss is the sensor gets tweaked a little bit and it throws the code when nothing is wrong...so hopefully i helped a few people out.

Yeah. I'm not sure what the exact problem is.. I got different reasons twice from the same dealership, then went to a couple others and got different reasons as well. Needless to say, after 30k it got annoying.

I am getting another xA in the near future though.. hopefully the RS3 will be out soon enough.

You guys don't "top up" the tank, do you? That used to be a common cause of canister troubles on many cars, especially in warmer weather...

Only top it to the nearest dollar.

I've gotten excuses that hard driving caused it, letting the fuel light come on before fueling, washing the car, or driving in heavy rain...
