Default Cargo mat accessory. Anyone know exactly what this is?

I did a search and got no where. I'm guessing this is a mat that protects the hatch / trunk floor area from dirt, debris, and other things that can mess up the carpet. Is this correct?

If so, I'm going to pass on this and just go with the floor mats.

Yes the cargo matt is like a floor matt but for your cargo area to protect the back "trunk" area. If your really not going to be dirtying up the back too much, then I'd pass too and spend the 60 bucs on somethin else.

Scion floor mats are cheap material and poor quality. They show wear after about only 100 miles of driving. You're better off with after-market floor mats from e-bay or some other source.

The cargo mat is the same thing except for the cargo area. It stays nicer cuz there is no wear on it and it has the Scion logo embroidered. It's the only mat I would have got, but it's still overpriced for what it is.

Some guy on here found some suitable material from Home Depot and made his own floor mats and cargo mat. Spent like 12 bucks. I say call autoanything or go to autoanything.com and look up a few prices or call their customer service. They rep several companies for floor mats.

That really blows about the mats showing wear that early. I may even just get the all weather heavy duty black rubber mats from Wal-Mart now.

What is the difference between the Scion mats and say a Civic or Corolla floor mats?

I don't know about Civic or Corolla, I can only compare my 2 vehicles.

Mazda MPV van - 1st off it has real carpet. The mats are similar to the car carpet and tough.

Scion XB - no carpet...just that thing industrial stuff that might pass for carpet if nothing else is available. The mats are hmmm...coarse grain, I guess...hard to describe. Looking at them, I would've guessed they'd last longer.

Anybody try warrantying the premature wear items?

My mats are showing wear as well as my seats. I have 3,500 miles in 1 month!

Shoot I had visible wear on my carpet mats in less than 100 miles.

I like them, but I'm not very happy with them.

I always thought the Scion mats were thick and beefy. I'm glad I got the trunk mat because when I put dirty things in the back it makes it real easy to vacuum and clean it up.
