Default Another Exhaust Q

Hope I am offerring a good question here...

Ok, so you get an aftermarket expensive axle-back exhaust like the TRD or Magnaflow....I hear that we have 2 cats on our cars??

So, by having these 2 cats then spending A LOT of money on a nice exhaust will u have a loss of power or less power??...
Then u wont be getting the FULL advantage of the new exhaust power?...

Muchos Gracias!!

Get a header and one down, then get the axle back or cat back. Im lookin into the megan cat back check it out. One more thing if you get a header you will get rasp. Just sold my HKS Hi-Power annoying with the header good high end power tho.

if i understood that correctly:

an axleback will not eliminate any of the catalytic convertors in teh exhaust system, it will only enhance the sound.

the tC has two cats.. a primary cat and a secondary cat that cleans up what the primary cat doesnt.

the primary cat is on hte header, and the secondary cat is right after the s-pipe on the midpipe

any aftermarket header will replace the cat with a "test pipe" which basically is a strait pipe.. therefore the headers are dubbed "Race headers" because htey eliminate the catalytic converter.

the secondary cat isnt really that restrictive so i wouldnt suggest you to replace it, just go around it while working with your exhaust system.

also, only a TRUE cat back will go after teh cat, the megan and other cat backs do not, the bolt up to the s-pipe and eliminate the cat theirfore making the exhaust illegal.

however, magnalfow and teh ARK systems are legal in cali, so they are legal everywhere else most likely.

the only things you cna replace on your car while mainting its legality are:

- S-pipe
- Axle back
- midpipe after teh cat

Ok, thats cool...I guess I didnt make it clear enough what I was getting at!..

Completely stock tC...getting an axle-back exhaust w/ it?...

Or do u seriously need to get headers & S-pipe to
Get the FULL advantage of the Exhuast power??

you dont have to do anything you dont want to..

but for the price of axle backs for the tC, i would rather get a header.. it will give you gains you can acutally feel.

the most restrictive parts on our exhaust are: header, s-pipe, and axleback.
