Well in my area we had a sudden flash rain storm and you guessed it, i got water in my engine it locked up and wont even turn over. i am not very happy, it is at the dealership and a rep from my insurance company is going to look at it eraly next week. hopefully they will think there is enough damage and call it totaled so i can get a new SCION!!! so some good may come of it, but for now im with out my baby!!!

 

what year and how many miles on it? they probably won't total it, the last tc motor i did cost the customer about $3500 parts and labor but his head was still useable, just needed a SB.

 

exactly how deep was whatever you drove thru...? have intake? very curious to the conditions that caused it all to happen..

and typically a new motor or rebuilding the old one is cheaper than a new car... so i doubt they'll total it just for that.

 

You would've had to drive through a foot and a half of standing water to hydrolock your car (or enough for the filter to be completely submerged)...and that's IF you had a cold air intake that's extending down into the wheel well.

 

I'm in Lancaster and we literally had a wall of water come down the street outside of my work. It was atleast two feet deep. Four cars stalled in the flooded intersectiion and a cop tried to block the intersection with his car and guess what happened. It died too! I can believe that you got waterlock in that storm, but be glad that you didn't get water IN your car like most of the people I know.

I think Scion should equip the tC with a Go-Go Gadget life raft.

the water got pretty deep, and when i was stopped big trucks were running big waves of water into and under my car. the underbody plastic cover is pretty much gone from the pressure of the water. i have an 06' with 30,000 on it, but it has already been in 2 accidents. so the value is greatly depreciated already. when the guy at scion was talking to me he showed me the intake and when he pulled it out water was just runing from it. there was alot of water, and a little got though the doors bc it was a little damp inside. but iv come to realize that its just metal and im ok and didnt get hurt.

help for what? you drove through a puddle that you yourself made the mistake of doing.... sounds like you were asking to have that happen.

unless you have insurance that really loves you... i'm gonna say you're going to cough up for the damages.

and no... it won't be totalled.

 

yuup! so your car will have been through 2 accidents and a dead engine.
Sorry this happened to ya..... it has been raining a lot on the east coast lately.
Sometimes being careful while driving just isnt enough.

 

Insurance is going to cover this? I highly doubt it, Insurance doesn't cover mechanical failure, at least not here in Cali.

 

Depends on the coverage... It could be considered for natural disaster since it sounds like a flash flood... or you could file suit against the city for poor engineering of streets if you wanted to take it that far .
