Default Thinking of getting a new head unit

I am wondering if there are any problems with certain head units being too large for the head unit lid that covers the CD player.

I am looking at something like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ALL-IN-ONE-in-da...QQcmdZViewItem

Would that fit or would that keep the door from closing?

thx

This should fall under the "Scion tC ICE & Interior" subforum, but I can at least tell you that there are a number of third party headunits (1 DIN and 2 DIN) that stick out far enough to prevent closing the cover. I have a Pioneer DEH-P880PRS which has just enough clearance if I close the cover with the face on (I end up pressing in the ***** if I press the lid closed fully), but it closes just fine if I take the face off.

However, I would have doubts about a headunit from eBay, especially if it has no brand. Don't go cheap; you'll get what you paid: cheap. Eclipse and Pioneer are the two most popular brands among the other SL tC owners here.

GET double DIN!!! You have a tC, don't let that beautiful double din space (with cover!) go to waste.

On the other hand, if you do get a 1DIN headunit, you'll also get a bracket kit with a cubby underneath:

Not as aesthetically filling as a 2DIN, but it gives you an easy to reach place for toll tickets, etc.

Ok, so back to the topic...
Not that I don't appreciate opinions on ebay and off-brand products, that wasn't the question.

Ok, so lets say I get the exact same thing off car domain except name brand, for example:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/POWPTID4004

Do you think that would fit this car? If you go back to the original link (ebay) it has better pictures... the picture that I'm concerned with is the pic without the face, it still has the tabs that stick up on the sides that stick out as far as the face would anyways, whether it was detached or not.

Opinions? Risk it?

Thx!

Sizes have been standardized for HUs, the two common are single and double din. Our car can fit either, single will need a mounting kit, double will require modification of the stock brackets if it sits out too far for the radio door to close. I say this as most single-din mounting kits have the option to slide back.
