Bonkers SEMA Build: Kryptic Vinyls Scion FR-S

By -

Based in Orange County, California, Kryptic Vinyls has cultivated a name for themselves as painstaking perfectionists in the world of vinyl wrap. Their shop demonstration car is proof that the devil is in the details, and the folks at Kryptic can make the extreme a reality. We present their incredible 2013 Scion FR-S shop vehicle and SEMA display car:

Wow.

I spoke with Sean Tracey of Kryptic Vinyls about the details behind this incredible machine. It has been a long term project, going through several iterations until they landed at the car’s present state. It looks fast, goes fast and crucially, is driven fast: yes folks, this show car is also the owner’s track toy.

Owned by David Fuentes, and managed by the Kryptic Vinyls’ duo of Tricia Trinh and Sean Tracey, a lot of work has gone into this 315 wheel-horsepower turbocharged and tweaked FRS. Sean had many people to thank for the car being where it is today and said the following teams were involved in the build: Kryptic Vinyls; Evolved Auto Garage; Bulletproof Automotive; Evasive Motorsports and Manny’s Performance Shop. From there, he wanted to thank the sponsors involved in the project, for contributing, among other things, parts, time and guidance: Evolved Auto Garage; AMSoil; Battle Aero; Corbeau Seats; Federal Tires; Spec-D Tuning and Avery Dennison.

With the thanks out of the way, we had to talk about the car’s color, as it is responsible for it’s show stopping appearance. Sean said that multiple people have asked who did the paintwork, and when he replied that it’s a wrap, the reactions have been incredible. It’s full title is: Avery Dennison ColorFlow Roaring Thunder Gloss Laminate Full Color Change. That may be a mouthful, but your jaw will empty once it hits the ground from looking at this FR-S. The color must been seen to be believed. “Chameleon” paint jobs are not new, but to have a vinyl wrap produce this color changing effect, while offering a depth and gloss of this level is revolutionary. We have a high-resolution gallery below, so feel free to click the images and check it out for yourself.
