Toyota Motorsport GmbH, the brand’s German performance arm, has announced that based on the success of the GT86 VLN race series and the GT86 Club Sport race car, a new car will be in use: the GT86 CS-Cup.

The 86 Club Sport Cup is based on the refreshed 2017 GT86 model, and offer many upgrades from the old car, and many upgrades that consumers would want to take notice of. Curb weight of the new CS-Cup: 2100 pounds. This ultra-light, caged racer is motivated by a 214 horsepower, and 162 lb-ft torque version of the naturally aspirated FA20 boxer four engine.

Can we go back to the first figure? That 2100 pound curb weight makes this car some 500 or so pounds lighter than a standard 86, which is already a pretty light car to start with. That massive weight reduction, in tandem with the aerodynamic package given to the car, as well as the competition tires and slight power bumps means this car can produce some prodigious cornering speeds.

Here at ScionLife, we love motorsport and can’t wait to see more of the GT86CS cup cars and watch more of the GT86 Cup races.
