Even though the Scion xB’s sales have finally begun to rise once again, the car is now quite old, and Scion is planning on axing the boxy car at the end of the 2016 model year.

“The xB will be leaving the lineup at the end of the year,” said Scion VP Doug Murtha while speaking to WardsAuto.

While it’s a sad day for those Scion xB owners that love the interesting and eclectic design, the xB was actually slated to be discontinued years ago. According to Scion, the original xB was supposed to die out at the end of 2013, but was saved by a mid-cycle refresh of sorts, which was showcased as a second generation.

What’s terrifying is that the current xB is Scion’s second best seller in their entire lineup. Meaning, when the xB goes away for good, the company could see a massive drop that could lead Toyota to pull the plug on Scion altogether.

What do you all think? Does Scion need a new xB?
