Sibling Rivalry: Consumer Reports Pits Scion's FR-S Against Subaru's BRZ
Most of the time, the guys from Consumer Reports are more concerned with boring things like cargo capacity, MPGs and electronic gizmos. And that’s all well and good—I subscribe to Consumer Reports—because people need that info. The vast majority of car buyers couldn’t care less about  their vehicle’s capabilities on the track, because keeping their little hellions pacified with rear-seat DVDs is more important than nailing apexes.

But even the staid scribes of CR need to have a little fun, so the bean counters apparently relented and let them take these two hotly anticipated sports cars to the track for a good old fashioned shootout. Brand loyalty aside, I would get the Scion, because the BRZ is the same car—but with more crap on it. In a sports car, I don’t care about navigation, the stereo, or power anything. Maybe I’m just old, but for me, wind-up windows are fine. But does the relative austerity of the FR-S translate to the track? Watch the video and see….
