Toyota: Please Bring the European Auris to the States as a Scion
Here’s what we have learned recently in the world of Scion news: Reports suggest the FR-S convertible will debut next year, the redesigned Scion xB will come out in 2016, and Scion’s small crossover will arrive in 2017. That’s all good news because enthusiasts will be happy with their FR-S convertible, the xB—where the “B” stands for “bedrock of the brand”—will get its much-needed redesign, and the Scion crossover will keep dealers happy; after all, crossovers sell like holy water during a vampire/zombie epidemic.
What we want to learn in the not-too-distant future of Scion news is that Toyota will bring their European Auris to the United States as a replacement for the superannuated Scion xD. We needn’t say much to sell you on this car, so here it goes: the Auris has a double-wishbone rear suspension — it was made to handle in the way European customers crave.
Now that you’re sold, here’s our sales pitch to Toyota: the FR-S has generated a significant performance following overnight for the Scion brand. It is Scion’s most popular car; in fact, at current demand, it could replace the xB as the company’s bedrock product. Because Scion is now an up-and-coming sporty marque thanks to the FR-S, Toyota would be smart to introduce another sporty car to Scion’s lineup, and here’s why: let’s say a 26-year-old single chap buys a Scion FR-S. By the time he’s 33, he’s married with a kid, and wants to trade in the FR-S for a more practical, but still sporty car. What does he buy? The “Scion Auris” of course. It’s the perfect crime, Toyota. Bring the Auris here to the United States, or else you’ll lose an army of repeat customers.
- Give us this car, Toyota. Please.
