The Worst Scion Ever

No, really, this one is THE WORST according to YouTube. We went to YouTube today, searched for “worst Scion ever” and were amazed at what popped up first.

In an ironic twist of fate, “the worst Scion ever” is Scion-made creation, and it looks like a last ditch attempt to reach #millenials and the #youth of today. How much time, money and resources did the Scion brand waste trying to pander to disinterested young people, hoping in vain that someone would notice their existence?

Let’s walk through this 2016 Scion iA: It has a gold paint job with pinstriping; a gold plated square tube front grille (to replicate rappers with grillz, I guess?); gold plated trim panels that still look like cheap plastic (and knowing how previous Scion plastic trim pieces were, looks ready to break and fall off at a moment’s notice); 15″ 100-spoke wire wheels; Huang insignias and badging, gold plated, naturally; a side-hinged trunk that opens “Lambo door” style; custom interior trimming on every surface; some big subs, and of course, it’s on multi-stage air suspension and can hop, because why not.

Can we revisit that gold plated exterior trim? They made the car bounceĀ and I swear all that stuff was seconds from falling off. Every single tC owner in that moment could feel it happening and relate. Eddie Huang doesn’t even appear in the video. He knew. He knew exactly what was happening here and kept his distance from this one. I wonder if he kept the car after this? Maybe they just burned it to the ground afterwards.

If you think I’m being unkind, try the comments section on the video: Seems like Scion managed to bring out all of the millenials, even if they are uniformly hating on the car. So, good job?

What was the point of this? Why?
