well...not much of an update since my last visit also needed some more adjustments..(i posted some photos of my 2nd visit on my build thread)

i saw one of the Cusco guys at Nisei today. he told me they haven't got it yet

i think it should come by the end of the month, and if that test fit is all good then it will go into production here in the US

any specific questions just let me know and i'll ask them

Just a small update...the new part just came in but I have work all week and once I'm free I'm going to Vegas

so I won't be free until the week after to do the test fitting. Hopefully it will be good to go and then production soon after

so until then!

What will the ACTUAL price be on these? Have you seen any difference in handling ability?

actually price i'm not sure...estimate msrp is about $200...i wrote a mini-review in my thread (link above) and i will write a full review later...but right away i noticed how much stiffer the handling it and more responsive the turns are

it really feels like the car is going where u want it to go rather than turning the wheel and feeling the car pull itself over

braking/stopping seems to be better too

So my relatively stock Scion tC . . . doesn't have metal connecting the left & right halves of the vehicle in the middle of the car already?

it does...but its very flimsy and doesnt really do what a strut bar would do

u know that plastic piece where the wiper blades sit?

well below that is a flimy metal/plastic like thing that the stock brackets connect to...i'm sure the flimsy metal/plastic thing is more to hold/separate the wiper blade motor from the rest of the engine bay than to act as an actual strut

this might help explain the basics of what a strut bar does and how it compares to relatively stock

There has to be a way to build something like this ourselves, I just can't see paying $200 for a metal pipe that's curved near the end with a few screw holes.

i'm sure u can "build something"....but it wont be as good...

its not "just a metal bar" there is a lot of design that goes into it (not just CUSCO all strut bars....TRD, tanabe, etc)

with that said, 200 is a good price for a strut...TRD MSRP is 245...

EDIT: i take back the building something wont be as good...if ur a pro...then build it and it might come out good (ex. Wellesley's custom CAI)...but its not a simple DIY for the common person

It's sold by a Japanese company and is of superior craftsmanship. Yes, you can make one cheaper. It'll work, though not quite as good. It'll also look like ***.

Hi folks,

Been doing a lot of reading up on strut bars & whatnot, I like what I'm seeing and I'm seriously considering the Cusco strut bar. Looks, IMO, to be about the best design out there.

that's a nice bar! Is there a reason why it bows to the front though?

i'm assuming the "bow" your talking about is why does it protrude vs be completely straight?

its because it has to clear that stupid plastic thing. mainly the part u lift up when u need to refill the brake fluid

from the stock intake tube...there is actually A LOT of gap

i can stick my hand in between and still have a lot of room

i dont have an injen...but how much higher does it come up compared to the stock?

the descendant comes up a little bit more...but i can still fit my hand in between...the only issue with it is where they placed the MAF sensor
