wow it does look really nice
its a little too much for me though, and the tC still has a better price. that head unit looks pretty sweet though. i think honda did a good job on the new civic, unfortunetely, we're going to be seeing a lot of them around. only good thing, is that we'll see less tCs on the road |
wow... I use to own a 2k1 civic and was wondering when they were going to release a civic with more than there 10 year running quoted 125-127 HP. Funny how I just got a scion 1 month ago... coulda waited for a civic hehe.

I don't like the styling.
It has a very european (french) influence... infact the more I look at it the more I think it looks like my Mom's car back in England. She drives a Peugeot 307 CC (the hard-top convertable). http://www.307cc.net/photos/fichiers.../p116_1609.jpg It's the short front end, and long back end. Just feels off balance to me. |
|
Peugeot needs to start selling cars in the states... I would be first in line for one of these....

Sorry...back on topic... that new Civic, huh?
|
I think it's a really nice styling. I'm no Honda expert but the back end looks a little like the Accord doesn't it?
|
I think it does a little bit. Car companies do that intentionally for brand recognition. That way when you see the civic, you'll associate it with the "honda style".
|
not what i expected from the concept... there are some good things and bad things about it. i thought they were gonna come with some better wheels and the front end looks ugly. the best thing about the car is the interior, i like the new dash and the audio/head unit...way better than scions.
|
I think the exterior looks kinda bad. Sure, it's very different, but the design does not flow from end of the car to the other. It has a very steeply-raked windshield and low front end, like a Camaro or something, and the side mirrors look strange because of their location. The interior is nicely done, although I saw somewhere that the new design cut like 4 inches of legroom in the back of the coupe. I like the way I have been seeing the price of the Civic Si touted as "below 20k", when there is no way it is going to be since the EX is around 19k. Gas mileage will be good, except for the Si, which uses premium gas, of course. I had thought about waiting for one of these but opted to buy the tC instead (still waiting on it), and after seeing the Civics, I still think I prefer the tC.

Ps. nothing French made is going to fly in this country for quite some time... Pps - I "really" like Peugeot World Rally cars... (307WRC)... |
The interior looks hot. I wish Scion put that much thought into their interior.

New Civic is trash. Its an over-priced mini accord. I was actually worried for a while as a Scion employee about the new civic. Now Ive seen the prices, quality, and design Im no longer worried at all. Edmonds.com said with certain seat positions you cant see the speedo behind the wheel on their dumb "two teared" instrument panel. Didnt Honda learn nobody wants digital speedos when people stopped watching Knight Rider in the 80's? tC is a much better value. Hands down. I bet the 5sp civic at the same price point wont squeak tires hittin 3rd gear... ...I love torque!
(As an employee of Scion we do not suggest aggressive driving, i.e. sqeaking tires into 3rd gear. However, its wicked fun!!) |
that is an accord...hands down....and if scion did anything more to the interior (wich i think its beautiful just the way it is) it would just cost more money. if you wnat your interior to look "better" pull it out your self, mask it up, take it to a body shop and have them paint it whatever color you want. I work in a bodyshop aned we do this all the time. all in all, i would have to pass on the civic. There is no flow like the tC. now the hatchback civic(at least ithink thats what it is) that i do like, looks like it could be fun.

As for the Civic... It's ok. But a couple of small things pull away from the fun stuff that made a Civic a Civic. They got rid of a throttle cable for drive-by-wire. So much for that peppy go-cart feel the older ones have. High RPMS is still gone compared to the older Civics, though the new Si has it once again. I dunno, just not my cup of tea. If I were to buy a Honda again, it'd be an S2000. |

By the way... isn't this a Scion site? anyone really worried about the Civic? I mean, I started out a Honda guy, but I really lost interest after the 6th generation civics (96-2000)... I still have my 97 hatch, and I'll never give it up... but look who I work for now :lalala: |
I'm sure you could run the Si without premium gas, but Honda is recommending it for optimum performance. A lot of similar cars have recommended 91+ oct, like the Acura Type S and Cobalt SS. Most cars don't gain any benefit from it, but you actually do get a *slight* drop in performance if you don't use it on some cars.[/quote]
|
i dont know, but something tells me that with that power for that little car, alot of people are going to buy the new Civic and street race, IMO...
|
Many of you here have not read up on the civic. Joe@dezod it does have the drive-by-wire system. Read the specs, it states: Drive-by-Wire Throttle System™ is standard on all civic models. The 140hp numbers are standard for all civic models as well. Differences are rear disc brakes, wheels, and other minor changes on the higher-class models. It's actually a more than decent "sports" compact. It was designed specifically to bring back the buyers it once had, or new ones interested in the performance side the civic once had. It's all there. If you ask me, the extra money spent on the civic EX or even SI will be well spent with the added features and performance upgrades on those particular models. It will all come down to if you like the styling or not, it does have the "performance" oriented build. I'm torn between the tC and the Civic.

They need to hurry up and push out the si so my girl can get it and I can drive it, while still keeping my box!

Two words.
Two doors. 'nuff said. |

i dont like it
|
i think it's a really nice car for once.
decent power, especially in the SI, which is probably better than the rsx-s for the money (actually.. it is) and the interior looks modern, for once, instead of some drab garbage. nice job, honda. glad there's healthy competition. makes for better and faster advancements. |
Mechanically, I'm sure it's a great car...but the design doesnt' do it for me. It looks like an mini-Accord...my MOM drives an Accord. No thanks. I'm sure with some hot-after market tuning and modding, it can be made to look a little more sporty. It reminds me of a Chevy Cobalt!! lol.
|
If you guys look on the site at the four door civic....they have options for underbody spoilers.....really makes the car look hot. I wish (as if I had the money to go and buy one, w/e) they offered them for the two door...but I guess they are keeping that for the si version...
|
Those tails on the 4-door are way goofy...
I think the coupe is a good direction for Honda tho, they've been treading water for awhile. |
I "built my own" at honda.com. Black, EX, 4-door, underbody kit, foglights.... It looked nice, but it was over 20 grand! That's Accord territory! And that's with the regular engine, not Si

that Si is nice, 6sp, 200hp, LSD and under 20k. High-revving engine, lighweight, and responds well to boost. Will be interesting to see boosted Si's vs boosted tCs, although I'd guess with the LSD it might end up a bit ahead...

interior are decent compared to the previous generation, but definitely uglier on the outside (what's with the accord-look alike front and goofy tailights?) and uh.. it's just another civic. Boo on that. tC all the way baby~
|
New Civic.
Nice car but, http://copwatch.net/forums/images/sm...2/whocares.gif |
I don't know why you think you could get an Si for under 20 grand. The pricing for the EX is almost 19, so I am sure that adding the upgraded engine and other enhancements would jack that price up. Has anyone actually seen the actual MSRP listed for the '06 Si? If you could get it for under 20k, it would be a steal of a car, because that is way under the Acura Type S. The price comparison for the Scion tC should be the Honda EX, because it has similar equipment and power.
|
i like the interior exept for the angle of where the Navigation is at. Its tilted slighthly to the driver. sucks for the passenger. the only thing good about the interior is the steering wheel and the gauge set up/ color.

A digital speedometer reminds me of my grandparent's old Caddy
