BUT! Again, I ask.... Which would you rather own? A Ford GT is way cooler than a Corvette in my opinion. The Ford GT is also classified as an Exotic. Let's also not forget about the 600hp Dodge Viper priced under $90K. Looks like the value buy of 2009 is going to go to the Dodge Viper and the Viper is considered more exotic than the Vette.
Which would you rather own? Viper, Vette ot Ford GT? Which is cooler?
A Vette is a Vette, no matter what engine or HP rating it has....

it is proven, the Viper is not a full production car; the parts are at a prototype level of fit, with holes sometimes containing flash, brackets sometimes not bent correctly, and formed parts sometimes needing to be tweaked.
Management has benchmarked the Corvette and other vehicles and is trying to build a car with prototype level parts but production-car times; despite the fact that the Corvette is built as a production car, with much higher volumes. With the Viper no longer being emphasized as an image builder (perhaps because it hasn't any Mercedes parts), workers seem to believe that, if the Viper does not earn a substantial profit, it will be pulled.

Let's not take any low blows.
I would never take away from the quality of a Vette. I don't even know what you are trying to say when you say they have "prototype build qualities"?
A prototype is not a production car so what does it matter how much of a "quality" build it is? Does it really matter? Negative...

The 08 GTR is going to be the value buy of 2009.

$70k leaving the guys who can afford it, a little room to upgrade it.
I guess you missed the bit where it said "Old Material from 2003".

This is more of a "friend told a friend" type of quote too which I have no solid references.
If you think about it the markup would make sense during the first production year given the logistics behind implementing a new vehicle into a Dealerships lineup....
Sooooo..... MSRP says value buy but the bottom line will remain to be seen.

I'm not buying one, so I really don't care what a dealer marks it at. But 1800 GTR's...yeah right. It's a production car, not a limited edition. Check My350z.com, there is a dedicated thread for the GTR that is full of information. It's not going to go up to some rediculous amount.
I voted yes, because of two things. One, there is tremendous buzz surroundng this car, which is important in the modern car biz. Two, I go back to the old adage "too much is never enough", which holds especially true for cars.

I voted yes for the selling aspect because "There's too many self-indulgent wieners in this city with too much bloody money." But the car won't last, there is no way that thing will be able to pass the new emissions laws in 2010. Personally, If I was to spend that much money on a weekend driver, I'd get an Ariel Atom and get infinitely more looks than just another Corvette, plus have more fun doing it

Look how comfortable those plastic seats look!

This is a yummy pic.... I mean does it even have an instrument panel?

I had a go cart as a kid and it was really fun but I perfer not to have to wear a helmet when I'm in my everyday exotic/luxury/hot rod because it doesn't have a windshield.
Just a preference of mine....
