Default 2009 RWD Hyundai Tiburon Turbocharged

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/10/s...ais-rwd-coupe/

SANTA MONICA — Spy photos of the 2010 Hyundai Tiburon have been leaked onto the Internet and are finding their way into Hyundai chat rooms. Sharing a rear-wheel-drive platform with Hyundai's new Genesis sedan that was unveiled in April as a concept at the New York auto show, the Tiburon is expected to go on sale in Korea in late 2008 and early-to-mid-2009 in North America.

Slightly bigger than the current Tiburon, this redesigned coupe takes many of its styling cues from the HCD-8 concept shown several years ago. Likely to share powertrains with the Genesis sedan, at least the DOHC V6 engine, Hyundai is focusing on the Infiniti G37 coupe as a chief competitor. The spy photos also reveal another engine possibility: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Pricing is expected to start in the high $20,000s.

What this means to you: If Hyundai's latest models have yet to win you over, the new Tiburon will have you looking twice at a Korean coupe alternative.

Hyundai is trying to compete with the Infiniti G37? With the Tiburon? I doubt many of the buyers of upscale sports coupes are going to consider a Hyundai, regardless of what options it comes with.

I may be wrong, but I thought that Hyundai was making a RWD "sports car" not to replace the tib, but to add a high end model to compete with Infinity, Nissan, and any other RWD cars in that class

Oh great. There goes the mother land. Anyway. No Korean manuf. can compete with a 350z. They are jumping too far t try to compete with the G37 when it's out.
The damn thing looks like Shredder from TMNT.

I know Hyundai is making much nicer/better built cars today, and that the sales are definetly increasing. BUT they are out of their minds when the thing ANYONE who is seriously looking at purchasing a Infiniti, is going to look at a Tiburon.

The tiburon is priced WAY too high as it is now. If you build one, put a 6 speed, Moonroof, & Leather, youre looking at like $23. For a 172 HP V6. Hyundais still depreciate like crazy, so you could get a 2 year old one with 25000 miles for like 9k cheaper. I see them all the time around here for that cheap.

You could get a

Scion tC- 160 HP, 5 Speed, Panoramic Sunroof, 17s. Factory Blower for what 4k? Or Turbo it, get 300 Hp and then maybe match the price of the Hyundai.
Civic Si-197 HP, 6 Speed, Moonroof, Sweet Wheels, (Sedan or Coupe)
Cobalt SS- 205 Hp, 5 Speed, Moonroof, 18s, and be at 260 HP under warranty for less than $1500.

All for within +/- $1500 of the Hyundai.

Hence why Hyundai feels it is time to move the Tiburon upmarket, with such a cool name, Portuguese for shark, or Tusconi everywhere outside of North America why wouldn't they want to make it a better performing coupe. The Supra wasn't always regarded as a small grand touring muscle car.

Aside from Toyota, Hyundai seems to be showing the most initiative out of all the automotive companies. If you only knew what else Hyundai built you wouldn't be laughing at their automotive efforts.

I work for hyundai, i've gotta say..they've been making some much NICER cars...i'd still rather buy a lexus over their luxury car, or a mazdaspeed 3 over the tiburon...but they're getting much better, lol

personally, i wouldnt buy it. First off, i really really dont like the front end. with the camo on, the front reminds me of a pontiac. Second, there is so way i would buy this over a G37, not a chance in hell. Its a good idea, just not for Hyundai.

Just like how their sedans haven't been competing with the Camry, or the Accord? Or the Tiburon competing in sales with the tC, even?

I find it silly how people write off Hyundai for being a Korean manufacturer so quickly... at least let the car hit the streets, first!

This is looking to be some real competition for pricey-sports cars, but I'm not interested in it personally.

Actually it's spanish for shark. Portuguese would be "tubarão", and it's said Tuscani. :D
