Default Any Chopper owners??? Need some advice...

Well I am looking into getting a chopper, or at least a kit to build one. I am looking to get something that is not to expensive... most of the bikes I've seen are 15k or more. I was wondering are there any others that are cheaper than this out there, thats a reliable brand?

my advice. don't get a kit bike. it is like building a bike outta spare parts and you won't feel stable at highway speeds.

i don' think reliability is really a factor for motorcycles nowadays because they are all pretty simple. they aren't like cars that keep getting new electronics and safety features everyyear.

i suppose harley's are legendary for reliability, but they are expensive. also, those are motorcycles not choppers i suppose. anyway, top brands that i've seen at dc cruisers is bulldog and iron horse. see if you can find used ones that you like.

Ummm, Harleys are notoriously UNreliable. The latest harleys, for the last 5 yrs. or so are reliable compared to the old harleys. But, even the new harleys are not as reliable as a honda or yamaha. If your truely set on a custom chopper reliability shouldn't be a concern cause your go'n for style. Ya pay the price for the style in unreliability. If reliability is more important and ya can deal with just a regular look'n cruiser definitely get a honda.
Honda Shadow Spirit 750 isn't bad and runs for around 7grand.

For a chopper I'd search the web for well known custom bike maker sites and look for used bikes for sale. Usually follows that the best known and more costly bikes are the best bilt. Not always, but pretty much always. Also for prolly the best advice look up a chopper forum online and ask the guys there. They live, eat and breath custom.

Learn how to weld and build it yourself. I'd definitely buy a frame though, unless you really know what you're doing.

actully, now that i think about it, my boss and all his biker buddies have tool kits in a saddle bags with their choppers, and theirs are all very new, in excellant condition, and very expensive. but it seems that they are all too familiar with road side repairs while out on a cruise.
