Anybody check out the HHR
Was at the Chevy dealer picking up a part and saw the HHR up close...
It's pretty nice... I like the exterior.. the shape is really nice and its broken up so its not just a square.. softer looking... some nice bends and folds in the sheetmetal.
The inside is really finished nicely... its not so empty looking like the xB. More storage space behind the rear seats..
I didn't drive it... but I doubt it will be as nimble as the xB, but its probably quicker Also its more expensive and city mileage is rated at only 23 mpg..

it looks like a stretched out pt cruiser. i am sure you can do some things to make it look a little nicer. the show rides on TLC did a show on the hhr and they turned out realy nice. the american cars are getting better, as long as they are not cheaply made like the cavalier then its ok.

I'd love to be able to buy American but they have to make something I WANT to buy. I'm just not a happy camper right now with American Made vehicles. A 2001 Jeep Wrangler just out of warranty with 35,000 miles should not need a new radiator yet but it does. That's just wrong.

it wouldnt be so bad if that was the only problem. It has had numerous recalls on it. and then the front caliper froze. and now the readiator.. I maintain this veh religiously and it should have lasted at least 50 thousand miles before all this stuff happened.. if not a hundered thousand.
My company car is a Chevy Colbalt which are the same mechanicals as the HHR.
Lots of power for a small car, but that's about it.
A good example of the difference between American and Japanese cars is when I went to design a bracket for my XM Roady for each car. In the Colbalt I could pull back dash pieces and trim with my hands and look for mounting spots. On my XB, I couldn't slip a business card between mating surfaces of the dash, A-piller strips, etc.
Chevy Colbalt (think HHR) has also the distinction as being rated by Consumer Reports as the most un-reliable small car.
This is the first year GM will sell more cars overseas than in the USA.

I like it alot more than the PT cruiser. The exterior design appeals to me more and the interior looks better. If I had any confindence in GM quality I would consider one. I think they did a nice job on it and I appreciate them offering a choice of engines in it.
I don't care for them...An H2+PT Cruiser=HHR...LOL. But on another note, I watched an episode of 'Rides' the other day and they took four HHRs and let four customizers have at them....They all went different routes, but it was impressive with what they came up with and how they looked. Two of the shops put in V-8's...flippin' sweet! What would you do in a situation like that?!?!

Kill myself. . . unless they did RWD conversions as well. A FWD V8 is about as stupid V8 lawnmower. Even all the Honda ricers will admit that RWD > FWD.
But assuming they did a RWD conversion, it probably be an interesting ride. Although I think the money would have been more wisely spend on something else.

Bottom line... They finally makes something that looks decent and they ruin it by going FWD on it. :eyebrow.
