My first reaction when I saw this on the list from edmunds: "No one is stupid enough to trade in a Supra for $4,500 even if its not working properly!"

So I went on MSN auto to get a picture to post....I noticed the Blue book value from '94 to '98 is $16,050-$37,000

Don't take 'clunker' so literally... yea, it falls under the low MPG rating. That's the point.

It's not like they hand picked the cars on the list. The EPA churned it out based on car age and fuel efficiency.

IMO, those that didn't vote are the only ones that can complain.

 

my girlfriend has an 88' prelude that's runs pretty bad with 181k on it and it still doesn't qualify because it "has good gas mileage"

 

there are some people who are putting their cars that are worth well over 5K into the program dealers are just selling them with HIGH HIGH markup all thanks to uncle sam spending our good earned tax dollars.

 

I was reading an article on Yahoo a couple weeks ago. It was about a guy who could not trade in his 1983 GMC Vandura on the cash for clunkers program, because it was a classic.

 

they dont turn around and resell the cars, they have to destroy the motors...

funniest thing that someone traded his old car and got a new suv which was only 2mpg's better than the old car. LOL.
