Forget both of those. Used RSX type S or WRX (wagons can be found for a decent price)

Sucks that it's domestic, but the S/C Cobalt is sick and under rated by the factory. It's more like 200 to the wheels and about 215 at the crank. Very nice car.

I know you said under 20k, BUT the mazdaspeed 3 thats coming out looks nice. compares with the WRX, amazingly nice numbers for a 22k car. just not feeling the wagonish look. but i belive the numbers were like 230hp, 260 torque turbocharged. sexy

I have a '05 XB (I know it's not a TC as in this post)
And I also have a Chevy Colbalt (notSS) as a company car.

There is no comparison between the Scion build quality vs. the Chevy. The Chevy just feels cheap.

A good example is when I went to install brackets in each car for mounting my XM Roady. On the Colbalt dash, there are wide gaps between pieces and trim that I could "bend" out. Lots of areas for mounting. On the Scion, I couldn't fit a business card between the dash pieces. Just a tighter, better thought out build quality.

But the Colbalt is faster than the Scion. If that is all you're looking for...

The S/C cobalt is so much sturdier inside and out compared to the tC. One thing I noticed instanly: try slamming the tC door compared to the Cobalt's door. Yeah, the tC seems like it's going to fall off and the glass rattles. I deadened it all and it helped. Not everything is bad on the tC, but the cobalt S/C has better feel to it overall. I wish i would have coughed up the money in the first place to get that instead. But, the tC is ok for now.

Base cobalt interior in no way can inform some one what the quality of the SS interior is like. The SS interior is actually very nice for a chevy.

The tC interior is much nicer than a base cobalt but the SS interior is definately nicer than the tC.

You actually think that Scions are the new and upcoming "thing?" They are nice little cars for kids.

The fact that the tC comes with more standard features is nice (power everything and whatever), but that is a marketing ploy to cover up all of their faults.
