Default DODGE Hornet Concept

Looks pretty tight. Following the box trend.

According to some sources it uses a strenched version of the Mini Cooper's chassis with some forced induced engine judging by the hood vent which would either be the supercharged one found in the Mini Cooper S or the turbocharged Brabus ForFour. Dodge may even use the Suzuki engine, and judging by its looks the production model may go with the new Swift chassis.

I found some specs in this article among others, the Hornet rides on a chassis based on the VW Polo and has a 170hp 1.6l supercharged engine. There is now even a promotional video showing it being driven around. So aside from some interior and the tail as well as headlight aspects most of the cues will probably be found in some production model with the same name.

Actually, judging by the motor specs it the engine in the Hornet has matching specs with the Mini Cooper S. In other words this car is somehow DMCX is collaborating between VW with using their chassis and once more with BMW concerning the engine. Either that or DMCX created a motor that copied it a whole lot which I doubt since the current Mini was founded as a joint venture between DMCX and BMW. As for price, it seems that Dodge may make the hornet a bit more expensive than a Scion but still less than a Mini considering the Hornet does sort of looks like and is roughly the same size as an xA.

Then that means this car, the Mini Cooper and Smart Forfour are competing with themselves. I guess DMCX wants to cover the subcompact like Frito Lays does chips, I know Mini is not quite Chrysler but its still a funny and interesting thought.

Than that means the Smart Forfour uses the same 1.6l engine, its a small automotive world after all. But then again I shouldn't be surprised.
