Default Ford Flex

This is from the New York Auto Show, it looks like (someone said in the post on autoblog), a chopped and stretched XB. I agree

Flex is powered by Ford's award-winning 3.5-liter V-6 engine and is mated to a fuel-efficient
6-speed transmission. The powertrain is expected to deliver more than 260 horsepower,
245 lb.-ft. of torque and good fuel economy.

Yet another failed attempt by Ford to copy something and not quite get it right. I'm enjoying watching Ford slowly die one customer at a time! Ha Ha Ha!!!

I think it's beautiful. I would never buy one in a million years, but I love the styling and the very elegant-looking interior.

This car is big, nothing like an xB. It has 3-row seating, and is more competetive with the Mazda5 or the 3-row RAV4 than anything else, I think. Or even the Pacifica. It's a big, heavy, powerful family cruiser that IMO should do well if Ford can price it sanely and manage the build-quality issues.

The Autoblog pictures are here: http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-ford-flex/

In their article they compare it to the old Fairlane wagons, and it's a very fair comparison. This Flex is exactly what we used to mean when we called something a station wagon, and you can see why so many of us understand the xB to also be a station wagon, albeit a small one.

as much as I hate ford i really dont want to see them fall, because if one of the big 3 falls, this world is going straight for a hurtin;' a serious hurtin'

and that thing is friggin ugly!

Not to change the subject but I'd only like to see what the big 3 could truely do if they could break the grip the UAW has on them. They could then compete head to head with Toyota and produce some good quality and reasonbly priced cars that people actually want to buy.

It was actually supposed to be called the fairlane, but for some reason ford at the last minute changed it to the FLEX

Maybe they called it the flex because it's intended to run on flex fuel?

very true, if the dam unions didnt have their ba**s in a vice grip, they could actually build nice, quality cars, and would not have to worry about trying to keep the production costs down

No matter how good it might look, it is still a ford.
