Default Future Car on discovery WOW

Opel's "future" race car
some power specs
1.3L turbo
114hp
155mph top speed
in a race, it averaged 140mph for 13 straight hours
It broke 17 of 20 world records for DIESEL!

"Yeah, so..what kind of MPG does it get at 140 it can't be more than 10-12."

140 MPH = 113 MPG!!!! :WTF:

I choked when I saw that!

That means that, without traffic, that car could go from Los Angeles to San Fransisco, in about 2.5-3 hours on about 4 gallons of fuel!

I watched the same show. I want that car!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To bad the US emissions crap prevents manufactures from bringing the small little turbo diesel cars into the usa. We could have some pretty cool diesel powered cars getting 60+ mpg. It sucks that small cars like the VW diesels ect are held to a super high standard for emissions but yet they can sell all kinds of Dodge diesel pickups, Ford Powerstrokes ect because they are exempt from the strict emissions standards becouse they arn't considered small passenger vehicles. Sooner or later the american public will have to get ____ed enough to force a change and start importing some of these super efficient cars.

It has to be political and involve someone in Detroit having connections in Washington to help prevent the importation of these super efficient diesel cars. If it really was about controlling polution then they should make the large US diesel pickups meet the same standards.

Put a small 3cyl turbo diesel in a XA, now that would be a great car with GREAT mileage to boot!

Well, enought about that for now.

I don't know how many times I've seen a Diesel Bro truck taking off from somewhere leaving a big cloud of black smoke behind it. I've never seen a diesel car leaving a cloud like that.

I can't believe that lil d' cars aren't more popular/available here. Straight motors getting 40-60mpg, then make a HYBRID diesel milage, you could make it from LA to SF (~400mi) and back (~400mi) on about 10.5 gal.*

*xA MPG 38 Prius 50 Dif of ~25%
diesel 60 MPG Hybrid diesel (60+25%=)75
