Default I want a diesel.

I hope the market for diesel fuel grows in the United States. I would love to have a diesel toyota car and get upwards of 50mpg. It would probably last forever.

Thoughts?

If I had a diesel Toyota, I'd convert it to run on bio-diesel and vegetable oil.

diesel is coming by about 2010ish, I think... but I doubt it'll be in a Scion form.

Talk to your friends today - their impression of diesels are still "don't those pollute a lot?" "aren't they loud?" blah blah

This country has no idea what diesel has become and how ridiculously efficient it is... plus, can anyone say TORQUE? :D :D :D :D :D

Actually Toyota has a few diesels. None here in the U.S.

And yes Toyota is tinkering w/ Bio-Diesels as we speak. Ofcourse not here in the U.S.

Oh yea. Go overseas and the majority of cars are diesels... I visit India from time to time, and Toyotas becoming super big there too (not that they weren't before, but they're making some new vehicles that a lot of people want). Manual, of course, but also diesels.

Of course, petrol is a popular option now as well...

All people in this country need to know is that a sub $20,000 diesel called a VW Lupo gets 70 mpg with no fancy hybrid technology. Just a 1.4L diesel and manual transmission.

If you ask me, game over, case closed.

And yea, people in this country do seriously need to wake up...

Two words: Big Oil.

And let's not forget the people who don't care... make gas $6 a gallon and then watch all the Expedition and Yukon yuppies finally say "hey, maybe I need to make smarter decisions, and so does the company that makes my car!"

GM bought out the rights to the electric car because they were releasing the street Hummer at the same time. That thing was freakin' sweet as hell, even though it would hardly be any more efficient in the long run.

didnt toyota have some diesel cars in the 80s? or am i mistaken. either way, they need to produce some diesel cars... bio-diesel is such a great great alternative fuel and is slowly becoming more popular. there are plenty of stations around here in seattle that i wouldnt worry about running low on fuel on a trip

you don't need to convert the engine to bio-diesel all you do is change the fuel
