Nothing has been sold in the US like the xB. The closest thing was the Mitsubishi Expo LRV (which I owned) and Nissan Axxes. However, the "two box" styling has been in Japan for years. However, only now has someone seemed to be able to market them in the US. Heck, the Suzuki Aerio was out in 2002, but it has sold poorly. Why? It isn't because of lack of features or power. I believe it's poor marketing.

It's taken, what, 20 years for somone to be able to market a "tall wagon" in the successfully in the US. Remember the Civic Wagovan? How about the original Colt Vista? Neither were very successful. The US doesn't have the fuel, engine and size requirements of Japan/Europe, so there's been no need (or want) for such vehicles. However, Toyota was clever enough to take a chance and put a good spin on the Scion line and it seems to be working. Hopefully, other companies will bring over their "boxes" for some healthy competition. I know the Honda Fit is coming over and there have been rumors of the Nissan Cube entering the US market, too. Competition is good. However, Toyota is NOT the only company to have a boxy tall wagon.

BTW: I'd rock a Lapin; I think they're cool.

I learned to drive on a colt vista with a 5-speed 4-wheel drive!! haha...ahhh, memories...learning to drive stick halfway to driving age! I was once a nieve young boy thinking that all cars were all the same no matter where u went, then I was introduced to Gran Turismo (which should have informed EVERYONE in our generation that cars are a lot diff outside the US) and I went to Brazil...nothin but Citroen and Puego!! oh, and when I was down there, I saw both an Isuzu 4-door light pick-up (basically an S-10) and also a 4-door toyota tacoma...keep in mind, this was in Winter of 1997...LONG before those trucks were brought to the US! just my 2 cents
