Lexus IS 300?
I know it's RWD, V6 and it's Lexus! I've been thinking about buying one for a every day car while keeping the tC as my Summer/Spring car due to high mileage and long loan contract. I'm noticing dealerships are selling high mileage IS' for $15-14k and lately I've been seriously had thoughts about me being able to do it while putting $5k down. I'm thinking about doing this big buy around this time next year so I can save and get my finances paid off (meaning credit cards.) I noticed alot of tC owners have IS300's too so that's kind of telling me they are very good cars. I'm not worried about insurance or maintaining during Winter I'll just have the IS while the tC only gets not even three oil changes a year.
Any thoughts?
I don't want to be stuck with "Beater with a heater!" cause Wisconsin is "No required insurance state" and if I'm insurancing full coverage...it's going to be something worth to cover full.

i wanted a IS300 as a second car when i still had my tc, but i wouldn't have been able to handle the additional payment. if you search around on autotrader or even ebay. im sure you can find one cheaper from a private seller. i've seen some as low as 9K in good condition within a few hundred miles of my house.
The IS300 actually uses a INLINE 6 and not a V6. The new IS250 and IS350 are the ones that uses the V6.
good luck with the buy

I saw that after I wrote the topic....
Now it's in my forehead...."A 2002 Lexus IS300 has I6's for their cylinders not V6's!" :D
My only concern is driving in the winter but I've noticed they run okay with winter tires and weight on the back. But did you guys know they have the same tire size as tC's? I laughed out loud when I saw that while looking at the one I love
you would be surprised in the similarities between the tc and the is300. We have the same amount of sound deadening, brakes, rims, etc... the tC is a really solid car, although we still have those damn rattles!
the 2jz setup is tight, but just think if you add NOS

If you don't insure the IS300, you must provide proof that you can pay for any accident liabilities out of your own pocket. Can you do that?
If not, let's play a game. Call your insurance company and ask for a quote on an IS300. Report back whether you still want one.

Medical costs are the primary reason for auto insurance. a few days in the hospital outstrips the cost of whatever car your driving. Your an idiot if you have the money to buy and drive a nice car, but not to insure it.
If you injury somebody, you could have your whole net worth sued out from under you, and future wages garnished for the rest of your life.
