Lexus IS300 or SAAB 9-3?
I'm thinking about getting a new car... not sure which one... we have 2 tCs and want to replace my 05 BCP with a sedan... my girl and i have been wondering which one... we narrowed it down to 2 a Saab 9-3 or a Lexus IS300? which is better? why not SAAB?
I do like the IS300 but we both liked the simplicity of the SAAB and its sporty look..

hmm...
any particular year for each model?
keep in mind, that SAABs are one of the worst when it comes to holding their value -- no one wants them new, few want them used. if you are taking out a loan, you will most likely be 'under' for much of the term of the loan.
all lexus models have above average residual values, and people want them - new or used.

get what u think is right for u...your in a toyota forum so odvisouly people r gonna tell u to get the lexus...i think the Saab would be the best car for a family its completly safe...insurance is cheaper on the Saab since its got so many safety features...And its TurboCharged soo should b fun to drive also...
I don't know much about the Saab, but I'd recommend the IS300. I've driven one...and it's pretty nice. The usual good braking feel, smooth engine revving, decent interior and build quality, tight steering feel, etc etc.
This is a no brainer IMO.
For $36K the 2006 IS350 with 306HP from a smooth-revving 3.5L V6 with a 6-speed auto (with paddle shift) is the clear winner!!!!
Who would want a GM derived Opel Vectra platfrom Saab? They look sharp, but thats it.
When I graduate and become a radiologic technologist, you can be best assured that I will be rollin in one!

The IS300 will hold its value better, likely be more reliable, easier to live with (just my opinion mind you), and the Lexus has a 5-star safety rating so I don't think the Lexus will be any less safe than the Saab. Plus the Lexus has a larger dealer network, so when you need service, it will be easier for you to find a local/convenient dealer for the IS300.
It will come down to what you want, but here's a quick comparison
IS300:
215hp naturally aspirated I-6 RWD.
JD Powers 5/5 rating for '05 in initial quality
Pros:Great driving dynamics, Upscale Interior, Logical controls, Great Residual Value
Cons:Small backseat and trunk, not much storage space
9-3
210hp turboed I-4 FWD
JD Powers 2/5 rating for initial quality
Pros:Better trunk space, turbo engine
Cons:Not very upscale interior, turbo engine (yes its both a pro and a con) Poor resale value, small dealer network

IS - I had the car, and it was awesome. F the saabs green interior lights too.
My IS was an 01, first year. No rattles, drove beatufiully even lowered, its just a great looking and perfoming vehicle especially for the price you can pick them up for now.
Saab 93, neeeh. They seem ok w/ the sport package n stuff in the right color, but thats it.
tC = RATTLE BUCKET!
