Ever notice how many Hummers, Tahoe's, and Expeditions are sporting Bush/Cheney Stickers? These people are under the impression that their families are safer in these vehichles than in a sedan. What they fail to realize is that their rollover rates completly negate their crash worthiness.

Don't worry, people vote with their wallets. When they see the $55k hybrid Sequoia that gets 25mpg vs a $40k hybrid Sienna that gets 40mpg, they will all of a sudden realize that they have never had 7 people in their car while towing a boat up the mountains. Which is one of their validations for buying such an exhorbanant vehicle.

Oh, and the Silverado "Hybrid" offers very little in the way of mpg improvements, and costs about $6k more. Although it does have a pretty cool feature, you can run powertools off of it.
Many Hummers, Tahoes, and Expeditions sport Bush/Cheney Stickers here in Sacramento CA. Also notice that most Bush/cheney stickers adorn american car co's products.

Another company that their own hybrid technology or got their's from NEC (as apposed to the jointly Toyota and Panasonic designed Synergy Drive) is Subaru with their B5-TPH concept which also incorporates the Miller Cycle, there are also rumors they may just go with the Synergy Drive.

And since I brought up that the B5-TPH is using a piston timing technology that was only used once before in a Mazda, there have been rumors that a Mazda Tribute hybrid may come out considering it shares its platform with the escape. But considering now that Mazda new crossover is the CX-7, we may see a turbocharged hybrid in their future production line as well.

I think Honda's presence is a bit discounted. The Accord hybrid still has much potential to become a hit. Especially given the backing much of America gives a honda.

Toyota may have more of a lineup, but Honda's sales need to be considered. But I do agree, Toyota currently has first place in the hybrid market.

Kilo - whats the price on that car for you wife?

uhhhh...hello??

Toyota does have the best selling car in America...and is the biggest car company by market value, and their 4th quarter earnings went up like 39%

Honda might have more style but you can't beat a Toyota, they win hands down in every category except style...look at Honda's auto transmissions!!

Another company that is vying for the hybrid market or at least in Europe is PSA with the Peugeot 307 and Citroen C4 HDI Hybrid which will come out by winter. They are going to be the first production vehicles to incorporate hybrid technology along with a turbo diesel. Here is a promo video as well as a PDF and another independent article on how it works along with the specs not to mention purpose behind it to create a diesel car with allot less emitions. This engine may also find its way into Fiats considering they also use the HDI diesel engine.

Toyota originally wanted diesel hybrid for the prius because they were able to get to around 75mpg on a production ready vehicle. However, Toyota will not sell a car that is not 50 state legal, and they could not get it to meet the impending smog legilation in CA.

Listen, I actually agree with you. I'm merely stating that the perception of honda in America is such. Now numbers (re: Toyota) tell the truth but many individuals I have talked to believe honda is a reliable car that runs forever. Maybe this stems back to the perception of honda in the 80s. Perhaps this will really begin to change...

Rev- wow, Peugeot! Are they planning a return to America?
