My first post; calling all cars..
Hey guys,
I've been a longtime lurker and had to signup for this site. The reason is a real good friend I met on the 'net has a Tc and he is always telling me about it. This site sums up his passion and so I signed up, hope noone hates. Hey, imagine this..this guy is like 6 foot 6 and he drives a Tc. haha how funny. We have a burgundy 1988 or 1989 year model Camry with the same engine, as we know, that the Tc enjoys. That's what the parents drive and it's not just a car, it's them!
The question of Tc power came up when I test drove cars back in late 2005 before i bought my Accord. I was in the market for a hot pocket rocket and was heavily researching the Tc as well as the new Si about to be released and the Accord. I test drove the Tc and thought it was quite nimble and I love the Camry engine! (explain later) Having said that, I knew I needed but really wanted as much power as I could afford and eventhough the car I chose (AV6) was not an Evo or Sti, I appreciated the sedan more for what else it could bring, just like the Tc, then those other FI non-NA cars not to mention fuel economy in the days of 3 dollars a "gall". Heck, I envy the Tc 26 or what 27 mpg? I get that with some hypermiling and with no AC!
Just wanted to say hello. Although I do not own a Tc, I do own Toyota...besides the Camry, we also have or should I say had a, I believe 1996-ish Gray Lexus Es300 but it got wrecked about 6 months ago. Not to worry tho, sister has a beige Es300. Both cars look and run great for their years as they have mostly been garage-kept. These are some of the best cars in the world. Heck, my mom can't even get comfortable in my Accord probably because of stiff suspension and boosted steering.
I personally FYI own a 2006 Accord V6. I just wanted to say that just because a car is FWD does not mean it is not fast. You can virtually eliminate wheel hop with good suspension and also VSA can help control it quite well. one of the strength of my car is it almost eliminates all the spin associated with FWD on quick starts. Also, just because a car has a sun/moon roof does not it is slow either. I have that as well and use it as a chimney for smoking. Again, it works quite well.
I am curious, besides staying NA, why noone mentions the Supercharger that came out for the Tc?! I am sure, by now, it has had any kinks worked out. I know NA guys want to stay NA but isn't the SC supposed to make the Tc a pony car? I am a true-blue NA guy, btw but I was just curious.
Anyway, love this site and love Toyota/Scion. I also happen to have some Toyo Proxes 4 tires. Anything from Japan is good when it comes to cars. We should just keep it as buy anything japanese and you'll be good except maybe Suzuki (Gran Vitare being an exception)

haha...wow, you haven't searched very hard have you?
now apparently there is some new kind of support bracket coming out for it, anyway, no the supercharger isn't that great. supercharged tc's are that much faster than stock. turbo tc's are where the real power the performance gains are.
anyway, you don't have to own a tc to be a member of this forum. the moderators aren't going to stop by, tell you to get a scion or get out. you can be a member just to read the threads posted here and/or contribute with any facts, opinions for questions you might have.
welcome to the forum.

I just wish I was 10 years younger so I would be a target market for it...The Accord fits me a bit nicer since I am in my 30s! bahhh Here's wishing I had something special like the tc in my teens and twenties. Really nice car with good powerplant!
