Default My New TOYota

My Grandfather (Pop) is the original owner of a 1982 Toyota Pick Up truck. At least he was until today. He decided to sell it and although every male member of our large family (and a few girls too) wanted the truck, Pop sold it to me since he knew I would take extra good care of it.

I went and picked it up today. My parents picked me up and we headed for Torrance.

My Pop's house in Torrance

Pop played me a few tunes on his eukelale.

Then we headed out to the garage, past my Pop's cattle herd.

And there it was...

The truck I had been admiring for the past 26 years...

It was with great pleasure that I paid my money and accepted the keys to the truck.

It was time to make the drive home and start giving the truck the TAZ treatment...I started by checking out all the nook and crannies.

The original mud flaps.

The completely original and well maintained interior.

Perfect front grill and bumper.

At first I had planned on removing the camper shell but then I remembered what it looked like inside....(so 80's)

The center section slides out and drops to the floor when not being used as a bed for camping.

The SR5 package

32,712 original miles

He even kept the original owners manual

Pop paid cash for this truck back in 1981, check out the price...

I'll be starting to replace some of the time worn parts like the side running lights and a few old rubber parts in the engine compartment. For being 26 years old it looks rather nice.

Thank you Pop for letting me buy the truck. I'll always take good care of it.

I was gonna say remove the camper but that thing is totally cool-looking inside! You better hold on to that nice truck for a very looooooong time!

congratulations on your purchase. my first vehicle was an '86 toyo pickup handed down to me by my dad. it ran like new for 13 years and 70k miles, then someone stole it out of my driveway 4 months after i started driving it. i loved that truck.

Thats really cool that you get the truck. Wish my dad still had some of his old cars.
