Non Scion Related ....

My friend here at work has this 1994 Geo Metro ....... When he has the AC off, it idles perfect, when he turns the AC on, it idles perfect, when the AC compressor kicks on, it stalls the engine !

Any ideas on what this might be ?

it's a geo. That's the problem.

even if he revs the engine when the compressor kicks in does it stall?

 

Most cars have an idle-up valve that prevents this from happening. Maybe it's bad on the Geo?

He said no .... When the compressor kicks on and if he revs the engine at that point, the car stays running ....

I know it is a freakin turd .... It's a Geo .....

You guys want a chuckle ? He dumped 2500.00 in this rat to get it running just to save a few pennies on gas !

 

$2500 would have been a nice down payment on an xA or Yaris if he wanted to save on gas.

I guess at least it wasn't $2500 into a stereo system for it.
