Default Subwoofer help

ok, so I recently helped my friend install some subs in his 07 corolla, anyways, everything seemed to go smoothly, the thing bumps like crazy, however there is a really funky thing going on. Everytime my friend opens his trunk, then closes it (car off) the subwoofer cuts on. The ground wire is currently connected to the left rear strut (top). My theory is there has to be some current running through there to give the system a spike or something...any thoughts as to what it could be? do we just need to locate a different place to ground out the system?

thanks
