Take Your FT and Shovel it!
This is one of those times I'm happy to not live near a metro area. There are plenty of places around me to go fast. And even then, it's not necessarily about going fast, it's more about a fun drive. I don't care if i get there at the same time as someone going way slower than I am, I'm just going to have more fun getting there. This doesn't mean I race to every red light though. That's just stupid.
Soooo the six RS versions in the six year history of the car don't count then, right?
... you do realize the "xb2" is a facelift of the "xb1", right? Like, it's the exact definition of a facelift.
Just because some people call them two different things doesn't mean they're two different cars; that's like saying the EG and the EK Civic's are two different cars.
xb2 is a TOYOTA COROLLA RUMION
not a facelifted car nor same chassis nor same model. only in the us after scion lied about 3 model years per model(name) then death.
the rs cars were add ons. SAME SHEETMETAL, just added on plastic body(lip)kits or interior fabrics/ colors.

I do auto promotions for Toyota for a living. And have been for 6 years.
don't quote me on the new tq numbers as they're no longer listed as combined but seperate
oh and the "combined" hp an tq numbers doesn't mean the same as adding the gas and elec motors numbers together. the "combined" figures are different and they are less than if you added both motors numbers together.

1st all...
You guys can probably blame the good ole US government for being so kind and
b!*ch about everything "wrong" with Toyota. Cause of all that crap; Toyota has enough on their plate to deal with first before doing anything special.
I could bring up more politics since I didn't vote last election...I really can't "b!*ch"
I understand where you guys are coming from & I understand what Toyota's thoughts are. Hence why I'm "neutral"

lol.
Except in the United States, xB1 is a SCION xB, and xB2 is a SCION xB.
It doesn't matter what it's called elsewhere; you change how something looks but call it the same thing, it's still that same thing.
The Scion xB is not a different model here. They don't call it "xB1" and "xB2". It wasn't marketed as a brand new car; it was marketed as the same one, but better. Officially, it's a second generation of the Scion xB. By definition, that's a facelift.
So wait... you say the xB isn't a facelift because it has different sheetmetal, but the tC RS2,290.0 isn't a facelift because it has the same sheetmetal?
And at any rate, I used the RS's in response to your quip griping about car companies who put out "semi-updates" to cars to grab "a few miniscule new buyers"... which is exactly what the RS's are for.

The RS tC's are not a facelift. They are a package. Facelifts arent packages. A facelift is 05-07 tc and 08-10 tc (although a very miniscule one but a facelift)
Scion kept the xB name in a desperate way to keep people buying xB's. I feel it was a mistake. the tC upgrades for 08 were okay. it could be considered a gen2 as the DSM guys do with the 2nd gen Eclipse. but i love the thought process going on here. must write for a magazine....like I read about the new Taurus one, one of it's highs was the spacious trunk. one of it's lows was the spacious trunk....figure that one out

Toyota brought these problems on themselves. The unintended acceleration wasn't as widespread but it was still a very serious issue for those who didn't know the car has NEUTRAL but their other recalls are their own fault.
Toyota had nothing in the pipeline before their recalls so why some people think their recent recalls has something to do with products being delayed is beyond me.
No one can fault the US Government for stepping in, most people in the US are certifiably morons beyond all belief in some aspect and i'm sure other things that wouldn't be as obvious to us car fanatics would have us looking like morons too.

I'm out of the market at this point anyway. Though after having driven one, I'll say that the FT/whatever it'll be called will have to measure up against the Genesis when it comes out... that's a decent car for the money.
Tthe exchange rates may say 30k but actuall pricing is never that. Usually a few grand cheaper. So i doubt middle of the pack options would be 30k. But knowing toyota the way they have been running things lately it might happen. But it better have more power.
