Default What cars are comparable to the tC?

I'm just curious to know which cars out there are directly comparable to the tC, and what cars did everyone look at before deciding on the tC? What swayed your decision to buy the tC?

If you research the scion tc on vehix.com, i think it suggests cars like the civic si, mazda 3 and maybe the hyundai tiburon.

I personally decided on the tc the minute I learned about it...combination of looks, toyota dependability and cost.

Looks, Toyota Reliability, and Price took my decision away from the Civic Si and Acura RSX.

Very true.

No other car in the same price range compares to the tC

You have to realize one thing. Don't mistake our fanatacism or bias towards this car with us saying its the best car out there.

Its not the fastest, not the most beautiful, not the cheapest, not the most expensive, etc, etc.

However, in its particular price class, i really dont think this car can be beat with looks, performance and realiability all wrapped up in one car.

Mazda 3, but I didn't really like the styling, and it had 10 HP less than the tC.

i have 2 disagree with u on that...i think that the sleak design of the tc looks a lot better then the pointy design of lets say the rsx...personally for 16,000....i mean u can buy a bodykit and turbo for it and spend like 7,000 for it...u will have the best looking car on the list...and definitly the fastest...and basically spend less then u would on a si or a type S RSX....

..tc r made to b moded thats why there so cheap....

...thats just my oponion

Yes specs wise it may be a good competitor, but its nearly $6k more expensive....... that takes it out of the running.

Honestly, I think only the 05 tc had a competitor and that was against an 05 si. Granted there are some serious differences but currently owning an 06 tc and having driven my gf's 02 si for the past 4 years, I'd say that is the only car I'd considered getting instead.

si has (in my opinion)
better handling, response and feel.
it also has more trunk space(duh, its a true hatch) and a cool, but subjective dash

While not as quick, the Tc is faster in a straght line. has more leg room in the back set and has a much better driver seat adjustability. Again on this car the dash is cool, but poor placement/size of the tach. these are definitely not all aspects but just some that no one has really touched on yet,.

Acura TSX or BMW 325!

Haha... I'm not joking. I narrowed it down to a car in a few price ranges. The tC was the best in the 20k range, TSX was my choice for the 26k range, and the 325 was in my 32k.

I decided to go cheap for my first car and when I get paid more then I'll get my bimmer.

Chevy Cobalt SS 2.4l

Starts at $17490 but you can problably get it cheaper with GM discounts/rebates or haggling. Has more hp and rated better gas mileage than the tC.

There's also the Saturn Ion 3 with performance packgage and you'll get the same ecotech 2.4l engine
