What Garage1217 has been working on in his spare time...
Thought I would share with you all my latest project. I have actually owned this car for a year, a black 1993 turbo with all options but leather. I am finally able to work on it as I sold another car (tC) taking up all the space in the garage. I am in the process of totally restoring the car & also doing a mild build. Car has all original paperwork including window sticker. Has every receipt of everything ever done to it! All dealer serviced as well.
Exterior is in ok - good condition & will be totally restored with new oem parts & re-skinned only as all the jambs & so forth are perfect. Purchased new OEM JDM clears, solid belt moldings. Will be doing a set of 95 tails as well but I plan to keep the 93 spoiler. Same with the 93 lip, however it needs to be replaced. For wheels and tires, I have new silver fno1rc's. 17x9 +35 out back & 17x8 +29 up front "custom shaved from +25's. Rear tires will be 245/40/17 & the fronts will be 215/40/17 dunlop star specs.
Interior wise, it is in excellent condition. Just going to have the steering wheel re-wrapped in black leather with red stitching. Seats are excellent, however I want to go black leather with red stitching as well. Of course the shift boot and so forth will be done to match. Nothing crazy, just very OEM looking with a focus more on quality / fit and finish. Also, already did most of the interior lighting in red leds.
On the audio, I trying to do an as close to OEM / plug and play as possible. No cutting allowed! Scored a sweet brand new 93+ premium deck as well awhile back! Also got in slightly custom 5.25" 2ohm speakers to replace the OEM subs from image dynamics. Once I verify those are good to go, then will start working on the rest.
First up, tore down all the suspension & getting it ready for powdercoating. Everything is being replaced. Bearings, bushings, ball joints, strut mounts and so forth. I already have TRD sways, strut tower braces & springs new in the box. Still deciding on struts for the car.
Since money is tight and I have to wait a bit to finish the suspension, I thought I might as well drop the motor and trans. That went pretty easy all things considered. Also a new spec stage 2 clutch was in the car as well as a JUN chromoly flywheel! New enough that even the clutch disk still had the black writing on the kevlar. So that is a chunk of cash I do not have to come up with!
Starting tearing the motor apart today, removed the turbo, manifold and all of the goodies. God bless my 1/2" impact This week or weekend, I will tear down the intake side & electrical to get the motor prepped. Will discuss what I plan to do after I have the parts and do it hahaha, not interested in debating what parts I should go with as I know what I want. To note, all items were removed from the car in perfect working / running condition. Turbo has a tad north of 100K on it & has shaft play, but has not touched the housing so it is a good core. Do not plan to use it anyways.
Overall the project is going good, but slow. Will update as time goes on. Here are some pics of the fun I have been having. And some pics of my little shop. Will end my rant for now.

All red led cluster. Very vivid in person.
Restored the factory subs to better than OEM via special 2ohm image dynamics drivers. Actually sounds really good for an OEM system!TC bushings also came in. Very nice
I will get photos in soon, but I have a ton of new OEM parts & hard to find / rare TRD parts for the car new in the box. Strut tower braces, sways, springs, shifter & so forth.

I was thinking you were building your very own Lexus LFA? LOL

I thought of picking up one of those puppies down the road. There's few still driving around in mint condition around here in SE Wisconsin. I drove behind a green one last year; I was very close screaming out "Interested in selling it in the future? Here's my number & name?"
