Default 2006 Scion tC auto vs 02 civic LX auto

I'm going to the track tomorrow just for the hell of it and one of my buddies at work wants me to race him. He has a 2002 civic LX auto with CAI and axle back. His car weights around 1600 lbs. Do I have any chance of beating him? I haven't done any engine mods yet.

1600lbs? I had an 03 Civic EX auto, and it weighed about 2500lbs. I don't see how someone could shave 1000 lbs off that car...

In any case, the LX has about 115hp, you will have absolutely no problem beating him...

Thats less than an Elise as far as weight. If that was true tha car would actually be really fast.

axle back hardly gives any gains either.

You probably won't need it, but take out your spare tire, jack, all that foam in the back, cargo floor matt and cargo cover, your front floor mats and itll shave around 45 pounds. Not much but it sure won't hurt.

Only will take u like 5 minutes if even that.

I have an auto, and my friend drives a 99 ex manual. I have intake/exhaust, he has intake. With him and his gf in the car(maybe an extra 250 or so) and me and my friend in my car(extra 500 or so pounds lol) I have beaten him every time without a problem. My other friend has a 99 si, and he stays right with me but still doesn't take me, so you shouldn't have any problems.

It's true. Honda's don't start building decent power until high in the rpm range.

No offense to your friend but he's pulling your chain if he claims it's weighing in at 1600 pounds. My 00 Civic weighs in around 2300.

For fun, I gutted my old 98' to the sheetmetal inside. Only thing left was the dash and the drivers seat. After driving it, I noticed more power, but it wasn't amazing. Maybe a pony or 2

My point, you'll smoke him! Have fun!

Well went to the track on wednesday and smoked the civic hehehe. I had full tank of gas + my brother and still smoked him. i ran 16.8 all night long, my reaction time was horrible ( first time on the track with auto car) . There was a scion running 15.5 with headers, CAI, and full exhaust. Ill try to post some slips tomorrow
