Default 24 hour Auto-X

The time is almost upon us for the next 24 hour auto-x in Charlotte. Last year was awesome. The way it works is you have to work 2 hours of each 12 hours you run. The other 10 hours is run til ur car breaks or u get too tired. My friends and I had an EZ UP, grill, too much food, and many many coolers of drinks last year.

No, I'm assuming that she is a VT student? She might be with the car club at school, I'll have to find out when I get down there in a couple weeks.

This is fairly close to campus, sounds like it would be a fin weekend trip, and a good way to kill off the tires! Can we have more than one person drive our car? And can we have ride-alongs? It's not a problem at more auto-x's, just making sure though...

fairly close to campus? its a few hours i'd assume.

and yea they do allow dual driver cars. last year there were 4 ppl driving a CRX that i m surprised passed tech. and they have gotten fairly strict about passengers in our region(u can, but w/ permission), but if its run just like the 12 hour, we just had, they wont care.

this sounds like an awesome event. I think that I might drive up from Atlanta. If I could somewhere cheap to stay then I probably will.

damn, only if that were going on somewhere near the west coast! luck guys! be prepared with just one set of extra tires and tools, 24 hours is a long long time, that event sounds super awesome! i gotta suggest that to the SCCA over here!

yea, its a blast. the event is pretty much an auto-x party.

and on the hotel situation. i asked and got this response...

I live 15 minutes from Continental. Usually I skip the first 12 hours and show up Saturday night at around 9pm and hang out. Then at midnight I start running and stay at the event until the van is packed.

There are some nice hotels near the site, I recommend:

Hampton Inn - $96 - 704-525-3333 - 9110 Southern Pine Blvd, 28273

Fairfield Inn - $89 - 704-319-5100 - 7920 Arrowridge Blvd, 28273

I don't know about these, but they are cheaper:

Ramada Limited - $62 - 704-522-7110 - 7900 Nations Ford Road, 28217

Super 8 Amusement Park Area - $65 - 704-588-8488 - 11300 Texland Blvd, 28273
most guys said they are gonna rough it and sleep in their cars or a tent in the parkin lot

Hey I have a question,

Would you be allowed to drive several different cars? One of my friends who wants to come doesn't want to bring his car, but I don't really want him to co-drive mine for the whole time. Could he split time between my car and another friend's car? Also, is this going to be run like a test and tune? or are they actually going to keep track of times and have a winner at the end? thanks

well to answer your first question, i believe you can have your friend drive two different cars, i believe they (people at registrations or the people running the event) will split the times between two cars, you just gotta let them know what you guys are planning to do and run it by them first to see if its okay and how they'll go about splitting the times

yes, there is so much vechicle swappin at theses things. i would just have him pick which car he wants to make his official car and sign up w/ that one and just drive the other one for the heck of it. i know of few cars i may try out and use my xB as my official car. u get 5 official runs, IIRC. u tell the starter when u want to make it official.

Sorry I can't do this. It's our first football game weekend of the season. Plus, ESPN Gameday is coming.

Well, Nas and DMB are all I'm worried about. Metallica won't be there.

Someone take a bunch of pics of the auto-x!

It seems as if nobody really took any pix cause we were all too busy racing and just hangin out. I did video all of my runs in my car. I got to drive a mk1 Cabriolet w/ a 2.0L 16V out of a Passat and it had a short gear transmission. That was my first time racing anything w/ a manual transmission, real suspension, power....It was a blast. I ended up only being about 1.5 seconds off the owners fastest time and he ran a lot more times more than me and I just was not used to something like that.

Fastest time in the box which seems the slowest is at the end:
